While in the building...
Sign up for a time slot in the building for the week of May 11 (beginning Tuesday) using the form found online at the link below. This week, there are time slots between 8:00 and 3:00. For the next sign-up sheet, I'll work on time slots after 3:00. Please adhere to the entry and exit times for which you sign up.
After you sign-up for a time to enter the school, please remember these requirements while you are on campus:
- Complete the checklist Cheryl sent out before entering the building. If you cannot meet all criteria on the checklist, do no enter the building.
- Enter the building using your ID.
- Disarm/arm the alarm as appropriate.
- Check-in using the COVID-19 app found on the SSO. (Remember to click the link emailed to you when you leave.)
- Wear a mask when you are not in your own room/office.
- Do not congregate in any areas in the building.
Do not enter the building at a time slot other than the one you have signed-up for. We must control the numbers of people in the building and the numbers of people in the various areas of the building.
Let Jarod know if you have any questions.
Fourth Grade Clap Out
Sir Ken Robinson on Normal and Opportunities to Reset
Ken Robinson's TED Talk, Do Schools Kill Creativity, has over 18 million views. It is a powerful statement of what education can be and offers the opportunity for us to engage in deep thinking about what we want schools to look like. That video has been shared in the Staff Update before.
In this update, I share a new video by Robinson. In it, he wonders what a reset of normality might look like (especially in terms of education). He encourages us not to return to normal. Rather, he hopes we will all consider what opportunities we now have to reset what we do in schools and reconsider education more broadly. This is a thought provoking and conversation inspiring video.
Quick Read
Rick Wormeli has done more than any other author, teacher, or researcher to shape my thinking on assessment and grading. His book, Fair Isn't Always Equal, is a masterpiece. As we think about what assessment means, Wormeli provides important guidance at the beginning of Chapter Four of that work. These important first three paragraphs are included below.
