In case you missed it.....
Look out Raptor's .....
....here comes Mr. Guerin's class! Many of our junior classes are learning all about great basketball skills in their physical education classes right now. I think the Raptor's might have something to worry about!
Eating the moon
Is there anything better than learning about the phases of the moon.....by eating portions of Oreos?! I think not!
Mrs. Hansen's Grade 1 class worked collaboratively to create this fantastic plasticine scene of our school yard. AMAZING artistic abilities here!

Some important information for this week....
Drop off and Pick up
You may have noticed an increased presence from the Peterborough Parking Authority and Peterborough Police by our school at drop off and pick up times this week. In addition to great teaching and learning, the safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. There has been a high increase in safety issues (high rates of speed, u-turns, pulling into bus loading zones, etc.) lately, which prompted our School Council to contact the city for support.
Please be very vigilant when dropping off and picking up your child(ren). There is a very large parking lot at the back of our playground. There are also many side streets where you can park and walk your child(ren) to our yard. We ask that you please respect the "bus loading zone" and ensure you don't stop or park in this area - at any time.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to ensure the safety of all at our school.
As you are aware, we do not have students leave school property at lunch time. The folks at the Crossing Guard Program were not aware of this and have been staffing the corner during the day when we don't need them. Effective Monday, January 27th, there will only be a Crossing Guard before and after school - since those are the only times we need their support.
Hot lunch orders
We are thrilled to finally be able to offer hot lunches! This is being done through a third party provider, so no orders or money come through the office. This week is our Subway lunch day! Parents have until 12pm on Sunday to place an order. See details below....or go to lunchboxorders.com and create an account.
School Improvement Plan
Kawartha Heights Cougar Challenge
As part of our School Improvement Plan, we are working to engage Kawartha Heights families in math at home. So.....Our first "KH Cougar Challenge" has been launched! We're encouraging families to work on these problems together and submit their results to the office. Any families who participate will be entered into a draw for the book "101 Best Family Card Games" and some packs of cards. Families have until Friday, February 14th to submit their answers.
Upcoming dates to keep in mind

Just one more thing.....
Did you know that this Wednesday is Bell....Let's Talk Day? For each of us (adults and children!), taking care of our mental health is so important. This week would be a great time to pause, reflect and think about what you and your family need in order to support your mental health. The following video was produced by children, and may be something you choose to watch as a family together:
