Newsletter Week 7 Term 4
Shelly Park School - Wednesday 30 November 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Whānau
End of Year Prize Giving and Graduation
With only 2 weeks until the end of the year, teachers are busy finalising the end of year prize givings, graduation and finishing off their classroom reports. A reminder that our Pod 1 and 2 prize giving will be in the hall, starting at 9:30am and our Pod 3 prize giving will be in the hall at 11am, both on Tuesday 6th of December. Our Pod 4 graduation will take place in the hall, starting at 1:30pm on Thursday 8th of December, which will then be followed by an afternoon tea in Pod 4.
During the Pod 4 Graduation we are providing childcare for any young children who can't quite sit through the ceremony. This will be available from 1pm - 4pm in Pod 3. This will be for toddler age and up.
During the graduation we will not be announcing next years school leaders. Like this year, we will host a special assembly at the start of the year to make this announcement and hand out the school leader badges.
Finally, I do understand that some people may still have concerns around being in the hall due to on going concerns over Covid. We have thought about hosting this event in the canopy, but unfortunately the logistics just don't work. We are putting in every measure to make sure the hall is well ventilated. Guests are very welcome to wear masks and we are planning on live streaming all prize givings on our Shelly Park Facebook Page for guests who would rather watch virtually.
PTA
Last night we had a great turn out to the PTA meeting, I'm not sure if the wine and cheese was the big pull or not, but I think it may have helped. Our PTA executive committee have done a great job with planning fundraising and community events for next year, it all looks very exciting. If you have ever thought about coming along to a meeting to find out a little more about the PTA, I really encourage you to do so. It's a pressure free environment and it's full of parents who want to give their children, and the rest of the students at Shelly Park, the best experience over their 6 years at our school.
Scholastic Bookclub
The Scholastic Bookclub, Issue 8 closes tomorrow, Thursday 1st December.
Book Amnesty
Please search around home for school reading books and library books and return to school this week. Year 6 children make a special effort with this please.
