News from Mrs. Abele & Ms. Kaempffe!
It has truly been a privilege and an honor to have worked with your children and interact with many of you as well. It has been an outstanding year of learning and growth! I am always amazed at how much growth happens from September to June. I have said this in the past but it bears repeating; I appreciate the support of PTSA and the State Road Community and continue to recognize the importance of a positive partnership. I would also like to take the time to congratulate our retiree - Beth Lee who has been aide at State Road. Beth has been with Webster for 15 years which 11.5 of those years were spent here at State Road!!
On Friday, June 14th, we will be celebrating Flag Day. As has happened in the past, parents are invited to attend our ceremonies, weather permitting. If the weather cooperates, we will hold our ceremony out in front of the school by the flag pole. A map is included for your convenience (page). There will be no parking in the loop that morning. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 am. If we have inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the cafetorium. Unfortunately, if this is the case, we will not be able to allow parents to attend since we do not have the space to safely accommodate the parents and the entire school.
The Family Picnic will also take place on Friday, June 14th. Students will be going to lunch during their regular time. In order to help the line go quickly and smoothly we ask that you preorder your lunch. An order form was sent home with your child but we also have included one that you may download in the newsletter.
End of Year
The last day of school for students will be Friday, June 21. School Supply lists will be available on our web page or in hard copy in the school lobby during the summer. A letter will be sent home later in the summer regarding teacher placement. Transportation for your student will be on the parent portal a few weeks before school starts.
Summer Office Hours
The Main Office is open from 7:30am - 3:00pm during the summer. Please call ahead if you are planning to visit the building during the summer to ensure it is accessible. Our custodial and buildings and grounds crews will be completing major cleaning projects and areas of the school will be inaccessible as a result.
19-20 School Year
The new hours for school will be 7:50am - 2:20pm.
We hope that you and your family enjoy the summer months. Remember to keep your children reading throughout the summer!
**REMINDER**
First Grade is expecting their duck eggs to hatch around June 3rd. We can't wait to see them!
Congratulations to our May Golden Eagles!!
Eagle! Eagle! Hooray!
And Congratulations to Emilio for receiving the Good Citizen Award!!
Attention 4th graders!
The morning show is looking for a new production team! We have open positions for camera crew, script writers and anchors. If you are interested in being a part of the morning show next year, please fill out an application and we will be in touch to set up a time to interview with you.
I would also like to thank all of the 5th graders who anchored the show this year and I would like to thank our camera men - Nevan Tuttle and Owen Madison for their dedication in making sure our camera was always working properly and for their expertise at running the equipment each and every show.
Thank you to the 5th grade teachers and also to Mr. Miller and Mrs. Laycock and Mrs. Wiegand for overseeing the show. I can’t wait until next year!
**Please remember to make sure your child has a positive balance in their lunch account. This will help make Picnic Day and Year End faster. Thank you!**

2019-20 BUDGET APPROVED BY WEBSTER CSD COMMUNITY AND BOE MEMBERS ELECTED
Special thanks to the Webster CSD community for making your voices heard on Tuesday, May 21, regarding the proposed 2019-20 district budget and board of education election. The budget was approved by a 68% margin. We also congratulate Tammy Gurowski, Linda Dioguardi, and Maria Rigillo who district voters elected to three-year terms on the board of education, beginning on July 1.
The board also thanks members of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) for their participation in the 2019-20 budget process. If you would like to learn more about the development of school district budgets, we encourage you to serve on the 2020-21 BAC. WEBSTER CSD, EMERGENCY RESPONDERS ANNOUNCE LARGE-SCALE DRILL ON JUNE 27
Webster CSD is partnering with area fire, emergency medical service, and police agencies to stage a large-scale emergency drill that will provide all agencies valuable feedback.
The drill takes place on Thursday, June 27 at Schlegel Road Elementary School, 1548 Schlegel Road, from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Safety during the drill is paramount for all involved, thus necessitating the need for Schlegel Road to be temporarily closed to traffic from Phillips Road to Salt Road. Webster Special Police will direct traffic at these intersections to provide local resident access. (Please note that Webster schools are closed for the summer at the time of this event.)
During the drill, Webster CSD, Webster Police Department, Webster Volunteer Fire Department, West Webster Volunteer Fire Department, Webster Emergency Medical Service, and Northeast Quadrant Advanced Life will simulate and respond to a large-scale school incident to test these agencies’ coordinated response. On-site evaluators will be present throughout to provide feedback that will help develop an after action plan (AAP) that will be provided to all participating agencies to assist with future trainings and any additional needs.
UPCOMING BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS/EVENTS:
If you can’t attend scheduled board of education meetings in person, please remember that regular board of education meetings are broadcast LIVE on WETV- Spectrum Cable Channel 1301 and live-streamed on websterschools.org > District > Board Home > Live/Recorded Meetings. Is the vacation day program an additional fee? Where will it be held?
We offer vacation day programs for $40 per day. It will be held at Klem North for Webster Thomas catchment schools including Klem South and Plank North for Webster Schroeder catchment schools. Lunch is included in the cost, however, children can bring lunch if they would like. We will also be offering field trips and special events on those days and weeks off.
How do I register for a vacation day?
Just like you registered for before and after school care, there will be an option at www.webstercentral.revtrak.net. Current families will get one-week priority over non WonderCare families (we will give a five week notice). Current families will not have to re-enter information. In September, all of those days will available for registration.
What happens when there is a half day of school?
We will offer care in every elementary school for no additional cost. Lunch is included.
What is the inclement weather policy?
We will offer care on "cold" days or when there is not an imminent threat for families and staff to travel. If the school cancels after school activities WonderCare will remain open. However, if there is a severe weather advisory, we will encourage families to pick up their children as soon as possible. Please check Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date information on these days.
What do I need to do to change my registration?
Changes in enrollment must be made in writing and emailed to wondercare@webstercsd.org with a two week notice.
What time is breakfast served in the morning?
Breakfast will be served between 7:00 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.
What if my child is absent from WonderCare?
If your child will not be in attendance at WonderCare, please call your site's phone number. If you call your child in absent to school, a phone call or email must also be made to WonderCare.
What is the refund policy?
If you are canceling enrollment, WonderCare staff need a two-week notice. We will not refund for the month already paid and payments are due on the 15th of each month. If you are canceling enrollment and selected to pay annually, your refund will be prorated.
What is the late pickup policy?
LATE PICK-UP
WonderCare closes at 6 pm daily. A $10.00 late charge/per child will be assessed after 6:10 pm and every 10 minutes following. (i.e. 6:10 pm: $10.00/ 6:20 pm $20.00/ 6:30 pm $30.00.) Parent/ guardians are instructed to call the on-site WOnderCare phone number if they expect to be late.
