NP³ Elementary 2021-2022
Matey Message Week 20 January 17-21
This is where the fun stuff happens.
Dear Matey Families,
What a start to 2022! Thank you all for your continued patience and understanding of the challenges NP3 faced during the past couple of weeks.
NP3 Elementary realizes that this is not an easy time for anyone and feelings of frustration are normal. I can promise and assure you all that this is not ideal for staff (either) and everyone is doing the best job they can to ensure learning continues.
I personally would like to thank all the staff members, community members, and students who have helped me (and my family this last week). COVID hit my household hard. I hate to miss school! Thank you all for taking on extra duties and giving even more of yourselves to ensure NP3 Elementary does not miss a beat!
Warmly,
Mrs. Dart
COVID-19 Update From NP3 Schools:
It has been another tough week for NP3 and schools in our area, as the surge in COVID-19 cases continues. Sacramento County ended last week with a case rate of 202.5, more than three times higher than the case rate during the surge last winter. With such a high number of cases in our area, it is challenging to determine the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses.
We continue to contact trace for high-risk activities, such as lunch and extracurricular activities, and are closely monitoring the number of cases in a given classroom. At this time, we do not have any reported outbreaks. (instances where 20% of a class is positive).
NP3 Schools COVID-19 Dashboard

Please review the COVID-19 Dashboard. It is also linked on all three school websites. Please continue to keep your child home if they are exhibiting symptoms. If your child has an in-home exposure or an exposure outside of school, please notify the front office so we can discuss the current guidance for testing and the quarantine requirements for students who are not vaccinated. The COVID-19 Dashboard is updated daily.
COVID-19 Reminders:
Vaccination and Boosters: The CDC authorized Boosters for children ages 12-15, five months after their initial two-dose series. All individuals, ages 5 and older are eligible for vaccination. Please get your child vaccinated and boosted, when eligible. Evidence shows that individuals who have received a booster dose increase their immunity to a level that provides more protection from all circulating COVID-19 variants, including Omicron. CDC and CDPH recommend that all eligible persons receive a booster dose because immunity wanes several months after completion of the initial vaccine series. Individuals who have not received a booster are more likely to become infected and spread the infection to others.
Stay Home: If you have a positive case in the home or your child is symptomatic, please do not send your child to school. Contact the front office and we will reach out with isolation and quarantine guidance. Thank you to the many families who have kept students home this week because of exposure or symptoms.
Masks: Please reiterate the importance of proper masking at school. Masks should always be worn over both the nose and mouth. You may want to consider upgrading your child’s mask to one that is more protective than a cloth mask or wearing a surgical or KN95 mask under the cloth mask. For more information on masks, please see CDPH’s updates.
COVID-19 Home Kits:
The state allocated home kits for K-12 student use last week. We received our allotment, but do not have enough kits for every student on campus. We are distributing the kits to students who have had exposures to COVID-19 and are required to test as part of the quarantine guidance. Unfortunately, we can’t provide kits for family members.

Leader in Me: Think Win-Win
Thinking win-win is the key to working well with others. It is the most effective way of thinking, especially in a family. Families that learn and practice win-win thinking are happier, experience less conflict, and are better able to meet the family challenges that arise. See the PDF below for more information.
Girls on the Run is coming to NP3 Elementary!
Girls on the Run is a program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based curricula which include dynamic discussions, activities, and running games.
Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-5th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
We are currently entering our fifth GOTR season at NP3, with a FULL team of 20 girls participating in the past!
If you are interested in this program, registration opens on January 24th at www.gotrsac.com (see button below). For more information, please contact Mrs. Riehl at priehl@natomasunified.org. We hope to run with you soon!
