Power of Intentional Play
"A weekly Ready to Learn family newsletter"
Orange Ave Room B5
We are enjoying getting to know one another.
Students are becoming familiar with our classroom rules and routines. We can already walk down the hallway in a quiet line and sit nicely for large group meetings.
With a main focus on social skills our curriculum will start with building a classroom community. The children will be making new friends and learning to share and appreciate the similarities as well as differences in each other.
We are learning about calming strategies, personal space, and identifying feelings.

Reading Pete the Cat books during story time was great! We made predictions about what would happen next in the story and we also discussed different colors. We made our own Pete the Cat art by painting white shoes just like the story said " I love my white shoes!"
Family Guides- CT Early Learning and Development Standards
Our preschool classrooms incorporate the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards ( language, math, literacy, music, science, social studies, and social emotional learning) into our high quality instruction experiences for our students.
You can learn more about these standards by accessing the parent guide to the CT ELDS ( Early Learning and Development Standards):

Last week, we visited the STEM ( science technology, engineering, and math) lab with Ms. Rogers. We went on a scavenger hunt around the lab. It was so fun observing betta fish. We found magnifying glasses and snake skin too!
Live Oaks
We explored our calming corner and everyone had a chance to see our calming tools.
We created emotion and feeling stick puppets for happiness, anger, and sadness, Each child chose the stick puppet to represent how they were feeling at the moment.
Pumpkin Delight Room 100
Trying to discover what Ms. Alison is drawing for our Morning Message is so much fun. We love observing the clues and guessing what the message is.
We discussed what a classroom charter is and talked about how we want to feel as a class.
