Great Moments in Hot Bev History
Kids doing stuff for the first time is just great, from bacon to lemons, it's a true visceral reaction. And helps remind you of the innocence before you took your first sip of the devil's brew. In my opinion, these kids have it right. Bacon rules, lemons are not for direct mouth contact, and coffee can go away.
But since most people drink it, we're offering free coffee, cocoa, and tea tomorrow starting at 9 AM. Bring your own mug please!

Summer International Health Fellowship Info Sessions
Tuesday, November 5th, 4 PM
Thursday, November 7th, 12 PM
Honors Lounge
The Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children is coming to do a couple info sessions for our students in early November.
The Summer International Health Fellowship (SIHF) is a yearly fellowship program that lasts
four or eight weeks and is designed for students. It is an immersive health fellowship that
includes clinical and health education activities for participants. In contrast to our shorter programs, SIHF’s immersive nature gives you a chance to form lasting relationships and view an underserved population from within. Each year, students travel across the globe to participate in this incredible experience - and one of those students could be you! This packet includes information on the fellowship, pricing, dates and details of the impact of Fellows on each project site that participates.
RSVP for your session here! For more info, check out the attached docs below!

HIP HOP & the liberal arts
TODAY! 2 PM!
Student Center Room 200
Hip-hop scholar, cultural critic and poet, Kevin Powell, will give a keynote address on the intersections of race, gender, sexuality and hip-hop, as well as other themes related to hip-hop and the liberal arts. Inspired by the Charles L. Blockson Collection’s recent acquisition of Tupac Shakur archival materials, this event will feature Powell’s keynote address, a moderated Q&A and interactive performances directly following the keynote in the Underground (Student Center).
This event is sponsored by Intellectual Heritage, Temple Libraries, the Charles L. Blockson Collection, First-Year Writing and the Honors Program.
Fourth Friday Field Trip - ONE SPOT LEFT!
Friday, October 25, 1PM
Meet in the Lounge at 1PM
Join us for our October Honors F3T to Eastern State Penitentiary, an enormous, fortified castle of a facility that revolutionized prison systems worldwide. The model for over 300 penitentiaries across the globe, Eastern State replaced physical punishment with ‘penitence’, hoping to offer inmates a chance to reflect on and repent their crimes. See what was once the largest and most expensive public building in the country: its towering cell blocks, its system of solitary confinement, Al Capone’s luxurious cell, contemporary artists' installations, an exhibit on race and incarceration, and more on a Temple-sponsored guided tour. Temple Philosophy Assistant Professor, Eugene Chislenko, whose expertise includes ethics and moral philosophy, will join us for the tour and guide us in a reflective conversation after the tour. You won't want to miss this one, trust me!
We will meet in the Honors Longue at 1:00pm and leave for the subway once we've got everyone checked in. We MUST leave no later than 1:15pm. You will be provided with round-trip subway fare and entrance to the museum / participation in the tour for only $5! Honors will cover the rest. Space is limited, so be sure to buy your ticket ASAP!
Click here to register! You can pay via PayPal here - or pay with cash in the Honors Lounge! Please RSVP & pay by October 24th to secure your spot.
