Project ACES- May 6th @ 2 PM
This is a global event for students that promotes fitness and physical education in school and a lifetime love for physical activity. Go to http://lensaunders.com/aces/aces.html for more information. Here at CRES we have taken part in this event for over 15 years. This year Project ACES is celebrating 27 years!!
Have your child wear tennis shoes (sneakers/ athletic shoes) and sunscreen!
Project ACES is a global event where everyone gets outside and tracks their physical activity. Here at CRES we map out our route and walk for about 15-30 minutes! It is a lot of fun! :) Be sure to ask your child about it when he/she gets home!
PBL SHOWCASE
Field Day
CRES Field Day is on May 29 and we need YOU!
Volunteers are needed for both morning and afternoon shifts to help supervise and direct games. To help you plan your volunteering shift the 3rd and 4th grade field day will be from 9:30-11:30am and 1st and 2nd grade will be from 1:00-3:00pm. Kindergarten parents please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to be part of their end of the year activities. The field day games are centered around a theme and all created by Mrs. Fox. So all we need is YOU and your excitement to help make this a success!
If you are interested in helping out in the morning or afternoon and want to be part of a fun filled day, you can contact the field day coordinator, Amy Roudebush, by email at amyroudebush@gmail.com or by phone 317-690-1709 and she will be happy to assign you a spot and a game to direct. Please make sure you have completed a background check and the anti-bullying video online before volunteering.
Your help is much appreciated and we need YOU to come out on May 29th and enjoy with us CRES Field Day 2015!! Make your kid's day and come out and PLAY!!!
Thanks,
Mrs. Fox

Reading
We have started reading Charlotte's Web as a class. Each child has his/her own book. We read aloud together and then students have a chapter or two to read during silent reading. We ask questions and have large and small group conversations about the book. This is preparing us for Book Clubs (3-5 students reading the same chapter book. Learning to pace their reading, take notes, and have solid conversations about a chapter book.)
Weekly reading homework:
Each night, please read for 20 minutes. There will also be a Math practice and reading practice page!
Writing
This week we will be finishing our PBL poster! :)
Our sight words are: REVIEW
Our sort is: Homophones- continue
Typing Practice (optional):

Math
This week we will continue talking about 3 dimensional shapes and 2 dimensional shapes. When we are confident with shapes, we will move on to Fractions!
Moby Max:
Moby Max is a website that is used for MANY different reasons. The reason that we as educators like it is for Math. I like how it gives the students math at their level. It also self motivates by allowing game time when tasks are completed. Everyone is set up but not everyone has been on yet!

Behavior Plan
I also added an in class reading log. I am making students accountable for their independent reading time. :)
At the end of the week, if they have made it to the ! each day, they get a coupon AND a trip to the treasure box! If they make it to the word DAY each day, they get a coupon!
