ACT Aspire Testing
6th Grade will test April 27th & 28th
These tests are very important to progress monitor and track your child's academic growth. We ask that you ensure your child gets plenty of rest each night and has a good breakfast each morning. Please take time to coach your child in the importance of doing their very best on testing days.
Make-up testing is not ideal. Please take note of these dates and do your very best to get your child here and on time each day of testing.
Weather Change and Dress Code
As the weather starts to warm up we know students begin to bring out the shorts. Middle School students are growing kiddos, so the shorts they wore before Winter are probably too short. Aslo, tank tops can not have spaghetti straps. All shirts must be sleeved covering the shoulders.
The dress CPS dress code is listed below;
- The following guidelines outline appropriate dress in Cabot’s schools: All students shall wear shoes;
- Young men shall wear sleeved shirts;
- Young women may wear sleeved blouses and shirts or sleeveless blouses and shirts with broad shoulder straps that cover the shoulders; undergarments may not be visible;
- Pants, shorts, dresses and skirts will be no more than four (4) inches above the knee. Long dresses cannot have a slit that exceeds 4 inches above the knee standard;
- For all clothing with waistbands, the top of the waistband must be no lower than the top of the hipbone;
- Tank tops and tops with spaghetti straps;
- Pants with holes more than four inches above the knee with exposed skin or undergarments;
- Caps, hats, toboggans, etc;
- Clothing that displays obscenities, promotes violence, including pictures of guns or other weapons, has sexual implication/content or has reference to alcoholic beverages, tobacco or illegal substances;
- Bandanas;
- Chains (e.g. wallet chains);
- See-through blouses;
- Pajamas and house shoes;
- Costumes
- Other styles, hair, contacts or clothing that may disrupt school.
Stay Hydrated!
Our water fountains are open as well as bottle filling stations.
Students love to play hard at Recess and often get overheated or dehydrated by not drinking enough water. Please remind your child and of course we will too!
Water Bottles/Drinks
Our policy at CMSN is that students bring a water bottle with water every day. We have water filling stations throughout the building that students all have access to.
The following drinks are not permitted:
Sodas, coffee, & energy drinks.
Please send your child only with water to school each day. Students with any of the above drinks will be asked to dispose of them.
Thanks for your support and if you have any question please call the CMSN office.
Chromebooks, Devices, and Social Media Awareness
We are very blessed to provide every student with a chromebook that can be used at school and home. We can easily monitor chromebook violations at school, but not while students are home. We are seeing many students on their Chromebooks late at night and early in the morning. In many of these cases students are on inappropriate sites, or playing online games. We ask that you help your student to be prepared for learning each day and practice good digital citizenship by monitoring their chromebook use at home.
Social Media is another area that continues to be a concern. Tiktok, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and many other platforms are not age appropriate for Middle School Students. Here at school we are daily resolving conflict and bullying issues that stem from students communicating on these platforms. While students aren't allowed on these sites, or even able to access their cellular devices at school, many are using them at home. Please monitor your students device. CMSN counselors and administration are happy to help you with ways to monitor this from home.
Cell Phone Policy
Elementary Schools & Middle Schools: Students may bring cell phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices, but must leave them turned off (other than pre-approved medical exceptions) and put out of sight from the time the student arrives on campus until the student leaves campus.
All Schools-The use of cell phones or other electronic devices to photograph, video, or audio record other students or employees is forbidden and could result in consequences up to and including expulsion from school. The exception to this would be when photographs or videos are being made by students for instructional purposes by permission of and under the supervision of the student’s teacher. Students violating this policy will be subject to having their device confiscated in addition to other consequences up to and including suspension or expulsion. Students who use school issued cell phones and/or computers for non-school purposes, except as permitted by this policy shall be subject to discipline, up to and including suspension or expulsion.
How to keep up When Your Child is Quarantined
Utilize Google Classroom
- Every assignment is posted in Google Classroom.
- Every student logs into this program daily from school so they know their passwords.
- You as the parent can access their Google Classroom using your child's login.
- If your child is saying they don't know their password please contact their teacher or reach out to our registrar. We have that information for you!
- Don't assume that when a student submits an assignment in Google Classroom that they completed it. Always open the submission and check their work.
Check HAC
- Grades are posted in HAC.
- This is where parents can go to see grades.
- Teachers update grades weekly.
- If you need help getting into HAC please contact our registrar
