A Note from the Office

Thank you families for your support during these first few weeks of school. In my 20 years in education, this has been the most challenging start to any school year. The staff at Washington has worked around the clock (literally) to try and make remote learning as efficient and engaging for our students. It is only in collaboration with our families that we have been able to make remote learning work.

On October 19th, the Edison Public Schools will be entering in to a hybrid model of learning. About 36% our students will be returning to in person learning. Our teachers will be in their classrooms attending to both the in person students and those who will continue learning remotely. Those students who have selected to be remote, will be eligible to return to in person learning on November 15th. A survey will come out from the District for parents to update their learning preferences.

Thank you for your continued support!

-Sandra Schlatter

Students are expected to login daily by 9am. Teachers will be taking attendance and reporting that to the main office. If your child is sick or unable to attend, please contact the teacher directly or use the parent portal to enter the absence.

Student Supply Pickup #2

As we enter the second month of school, teachers have determined that students could benefit from some additional school materials. In conjunction with our Title I status (read more below), ALL students will also receive a WES string bag with supplemental materials. These supplies may be used once a student returns to in-person learning. Please keep them safely in the bag provided.

We are asking that parents please come pick up these supplies Tuesday (10/6) and Wednesday (10/7) from 12:00pm-4:00pm. If you are unable to come during these times, please email mailto:sandra.schlatter@edison.k12.nj.us Fifth (5th) grade students may also pick up on Wednesday 10/14 when they pick up Science supplies.

Due to construction near the gym, the pickup will be in the back of the school near the fifth grade steps.

W.E.S. has been recognized as a School-Wide Title I program
