Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Appointment of Executive Director of Catholic Education WA
As a community, we congratulate Dr Debra Sayce on her appointment to the substantive position of Executive Director of Catholic Education in Western Australia. Dr Sayce has more than 13 years of system leadership experience in CEWA, including Director of Religious Education. We wish her well and look forward to her leadership.
40th Anniversary
As the 40th Anniversary of our school continues, we are now preparing for both the Gala Dinner on Friday 12 October at Joondalup Resort, together with our Environmental Arts Trail exhibited by students on Friday 9 November. Please mark these two dates in your diary as both should be loads of fun and together, we have lots to celebrate.
If you love art and would like to support your child’s class in the development of an art installation for the exhibition, please contact their teacher to see if they need any help.
Reconciliation
Last Tuesday, our Year Three children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. In chatting with many of them recently, it has been great to hear how special they felt on the night and how precious it was for them to spend reflective time with their families and talk to the priest.
Thank you to Mrs Hales, Mrs Limpitlaw, Mrs Hannaford, Mrs Sonia Palmer, Mr De Maio and the parish catechist, Mrs Trish Starkie for everything they have done to prepare the children.
Dance Showcase
A huge thank you to the team of staff involved in the Yr 3-6 Dance Showcase yesterday. The students loved showing what they could do and in the afternoon, put on an amazing and entertaining show. Mrs Candice D’Adamo’s dedication and commitment to leading our dance program is very much appreciated by all – thank you Candice.
iPad Information Evening
Thank you to Mr Mike Barns, the Year 2 teachers and all the Year 2 parents who attended the iPad information evening on Monday. Further information will be sent out next week regarding this matter.
Junior Athletics Carnival
Oh what a day! Students from PP-Yr2 had a fabulous morning participating in the Junior Athletics Carnival at school. It was great to feel the excitement in the air, hear the fun and laughter and watch how everyone tried to do their very best on the day. Well done Mr D’Adamo and congratulations to everyone involved. We now look forward to the Senior Athletics Carnival over the next two days.
Carpark
As we are all still learning how to use our new drive-thru and front carpark area correctly, I ask that families DO NOT park on the red brick raised walkways in the front carpark or the concrete footpath bordering the oval. These areas are not designed for vehicles, whilst at the same time, vehicles parked in this area are impeding the safety of pedestrians who could be crossing in these areas. Thank you for your attention and support of this matter.

School Uniform Survey
Thank you to the families who have participated in our Uniform Review Survey thus far. As we are very keen to get a true measure of the entire school community opinion, we ask that all remaining families participate in the survey within the next week. The survey will close midnight Tuesday 18th of September... until then we would love to hear from you. Many thanks.
The Uniform Committee
We ask that you follow the link below and take a few minutes to complete the survey so that your input can be considered.

School Photos - Term 4
On Wednesday 10 October and Thursday 11 October, school photos will be taken in the school hall.
There are a number of issues that require your attention for these two days:
- Children must wear their full school summer uniform on both days. If your child normally wears their sports uniform on Wednesday or Thursday, they must be in school uniform for these two days.
- Personalised instruction slips with a unique student code have now been distributed to classes. All class and individual photos can only be ordered online. Please contact MSP Photography on 9240 8000 if you have any queries.
Please note the arrangements for Pre Kindy classes.
Photos will only be taken on Thursday. If your child is in Pre Kindy on Tuesday they should attend on Thursday from 9.00am – 9.50am for an individual and group photo. Photos are not compulsory, however, it would be a lovely memento of their first year at school.
Family Photos
MSP Photography is offering the chance to have family portraits done again this year. If you wish for your children to have a family photo together, please obtain the family photo envelope at the front office. This is a completely separate envelope from your children’s individual instruction slip. Family photos will be scheduled before school on Wednesday and Thursday. Please take your family envelope with you on the day of your photo.
NOTE: Family photos cannot be ordered online.
The expiry date for online ordering is the 17th October. Any orders received after this date are treated as re orders and will incur a $30.00 re order charge on top of your order. You can email your order request through to reorders.perth@msp.com.au or call MSP Photography
on 9240 8000.
Please find photo timetable below. Please note that we cannot alter times for classes for one or two children who may have other appointments, etc.

PE News
A reminder the Senior Athletics Carnival is taking place on Friday 14/9 at Bridgewater Park, Kallaroo. As this is a normal school day, you will be required to have your child at school ready for a normal start at 8:45am. The students will be walking from the school oval departing at 8:55am fully supervised by school staff.
Students will need the following items for the day:
-Full sports uniform (including hats)
-Sunscreen (more provided at the venue)
-School bag with recess, drinks and lunch
Students will need to remain in the tent at all times and will not be eating with parents due to the logistics of the day. Parents please refrain from entering/visiting the tents as this makes it very difficult for the helpers and it disrupts the smooth running of the carnival. We strongly encourage you to support the school ethos in promoting teamwork and sportsmanship by keeping your child at the carnival until the completion of the event. Once the event has finished at approximately 2:45pm you may sign out your child with their classroom teacher. All students who have not been signed out at the completion of the carnival will be walked back to school for a normal finish at 3:00pm.
We looking forward to seeing you at the event.
Kind regards
Mr Adriano D'Adamo
PE Specialist
New Homework Bags
Homework bags are now in stock and available from the front office.
Wheelchairs for Kids
Eoghan Barrowclough (Year 5W) has been busy promoting his collection of blankets and teddies for the ‘Wheelchairs for Kids’ organisation. This is an organisation made up of volunteers who give their time to make wheelchairs for children in need around the world. They also provide blankets and teddies with the wheelchair. Eoghan and the Christian ministry will be hosting a blanket and teddy collection drive every morning in the last week of school (Monday 17th September to Thursday 20th September) in the front of the school office.
Eoghan and the Christian ministry are also looking at other fundraising initiatives for the ‘Wheelchairs for Kids’ organisation. A new wheelchair is made for every $200 raised. The students have decided to host a cake stall at the Junior athletics carnival (Wednesday 12 September) and a Grand Final Show your colours free dress day with a gold coin donation for the last day of term (Thursday 20 September). We look forward to supporting Eoghan and the Christian Ministry in this very worthy cause.
