Gladiator News
Dr. Hector P. Garcia Middle School Newsletter
March 6-10, 2017
Friday the 7th graders earned their reward for winning Gladiator Games in October. Each student received a Bahamas Bucks snow cone during lunch. Many thanks to our parent volunteers that prepared and served the shaved ice.
All 8th graders attending Brandeis High School next year will visit the campus on Monday. They must have returned their permission slip in order to attend. Please check with your child to ensure they have given the form to their first period teacher.
Permission slips need to be returned for the 8th grade field trip to Fiesta Texas on April 21. They were given to students in science and must be returned to that teacher. We need those slips this week to finalize the details of the trip. Please check with your child to see that they have indeed returned the form.
Good luck to our Orchestra UIL students this week!
It's a GREAT day to be a Gladiator!

Special Olympian Super Athletes
From our Specialized Instruction teacher, Minerva Quintero:
Garcia had 14 athletes participate in the Special Olympic Track and Field events this year. We received 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 5 bronze in various events. We also got first place for showing the most spirit on and off the field, and received the Devine Power Trophy! We had lots of support from family and friends, plus the assistance of our 2 Garcia students who served as Special Olympic Buddies, Adam Benhayoune, and Mia Caballero, which altogether made an awesome team!!
Great job Gladiators!
Choir Takes Sweepstakes!
Congratulations to all students and choir director, Kathy Settles-Horejsi.
