The Weekly Olé FAMILY EDITION
Rancho Minerva Middle School - April 9, 2021
PLAYWIGHTS PROJECT
"Here are a few screenshots from my 7th grade Language Arts classes as we watched performances on-line from http://www.playwrightsproject.org/ on 3/26/2021.
Our scholars really enjoyed it. One 7th grader even asked for the information of the Playwrights Project in order to see if he could submit a play that he would write in the future.
When I looked at my second screen to see if scholars were still logged on during the performances, most of them were. For a Friday afternoon before Spring Break, I was impressed. After watching three short plays, many scholars responded in the chat describing which play they liked the most and why. Our 7th grade scholars are quite the theatre critics!! "

8th GRADE SPRING PHOTOS
We have scheduled our 8th grade Spring Photos for April 22 and 23. Virtual scholars will need to make an appointment to get their photo taken. Look for the invite in the coming weeks. Classic scholars will have their photo taken during their scheduled PE period.
CLASSIC SCHOLARS ARE BACK 5 DAYS PER WEEK
Please be sure your scholar is ready for school, dressed appropriately, and has the necessary school supplies, including their charged Chromebook. Please do not allow your scholar to come to school with nothing. It makes for a tough day for them. If you need assistance with supplies, please reach out to Ms. Lucia and she will be able to help you. Please review the CLASSIC Scholar Newsletter below.
ASES PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO SCHOLARS
ASES program is available to parents who need to drop their scholars off prior to 30 minutes before school starts OR need to have their scholars stay after school until 6 pm. We strongly encourage families who drop their scholars off early to register for ASES as your scholar will be unsupervised until 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day. This is a FREE program. Please take advantage.
You can find it on the ASES webpage: CLICK HERE FOR WEBSITE
COVID PROTOCOLS STILL IN PLACE
Just a reminder to our Classic scholars about the safety protocols that will be in place when you return to campus. If you choose to not follow these mandatory requirements, you may be moved to the Virtual model. It's everyone's job to keep everyone safe.
- Every scholar must get their temperature checked prior to coming on campus.
- Every scholar must have an approved mask that covers their mouth and nose on at all times while on campus, except when eating or drinking. No gators, bandanas, masks with vents. If you don't have a mask, we will give you one.
- Every scholar must maintain appropriate social distancing - which is 6 feet. This is a tough one for all of us! Everyone needs to keep their hands to themselves. Virtual hugs only.
- Hand washing will be encouraged.
- Please bring a re-fillable water bottle to school as all the water fountains are shut off.
- No sharing of food, drink, or other items. No sharing of anything :-(
- Scholars will have assigned seating in their classrooms AND at lunch.

BE TECH SMART - KEEP YOUR SCHOLAR SAFE
With students having constant access to social media, texting, and the internet, they’ve managed to create a secret code language that hides their behavior from parents and teachers. Some students who use code words and secret hashtags feel like they can easily misbehave because their parents aren’t even aware of what they are chatting about. It’s important for parents and educators to stay informed on this ever-changing teen slang that is so prominent today on social media.
SmartSocial.com created a comprehensive list of the teen slang, social media terms, popular acronyms, secret emoji meanings, and dangerous hashtags that parents and educators need to know.
