Final Exam & Assignment Scores Can Be Viewed in Canvas/ Semester Grade Reports Published in ParentVUE on Jan. 11
Mustang Families,
The end of the first semester is nearly here. Our students have had a great first semester of learning, and we continue to see the positive impacts of our learning management system, Canvas, in our classrooms. As we gear up for the end of the semester, please take note of the important information below regarding grades and courses in Canvas.
End of Semester Information
At the end of the day on Tuesday, December 20, courses in Canvas will conclude and will no longer be visible on the Canvas Parent app. A concluded course is only visible through the Canvas Website. To view concluded courses, open Canvas in a web browser, log in, and click on the Courses tab. Click View All Courses and scroll down to find the past enrollments.
Final exam scores and other individual assignment grades can be viewed in Canvas. Semester grade reports will be published in ParentVUE on January 11.

BV Libraries and Librarians featured in a BV Story
The latest Learning Connection story features Blue Valley libraries and librarians. Brianna Childers had the opportunity to speak with Paula Naden (TCE), Abby Cornelius and Terri Snethen (BVN) about the benefits of our libraries. All librarians are working hard to ensure every student is happy, safe and healthy. Here is the link to the story that describes how great Blue Valley's library program is.

Thank you Mustang Families!
The outpouring of donations to provide gift cards to our needy families was 100% met plus additional gifts were received. We could not help these families without the generosity of so many kind and giving parents. Thank you for being the Unspoken Heroes of North!
In addition, we were in awe of the beautiful and delicious cookies, candies, breads and treats so many of you provided for the BVN Staff today. We felt your appreciation and kindness. Thank you for taking the time to shop, bake and deliver these amazing treats for the most incredible dessert bar, complete with all kinds of Keurig cups. Elizabeth Tridle, Shannon Mills and Jacki Bliss, The Mustang Club Hospitality Committee, went above and beyond and we can't thank them enough!
The BVN Students Heart Teachers chapter had fantastic "BVN Holiday Teacher Wishlist Campaign." and thanks to our generous parents again, these students were able to purchase 13 - $50 Amazon gift cards to gift our BVN teachers. They surpassed their goal of gifting 10 teachers! Students Heart Teachers brings together students with a passion to enrich and uplift teachers by inspiring, educating, and mobilizing students and communities to make impactful changes in how teachers are valued. We are thankful for our parents who helped support these outstanding, giving group of students, led by Caroline Massman and student team members, Addison Stout and Elle Razi.
We send our sincere thanks to the Mustang Club and all our generous parents!

KS Communities That Care Student Survey 2023 (update)
Thank you to everyone who has already responded to the Kansas Communities That Care consent form in ParentVue. If you haven’t done so yet, we kindly ask for a response by Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 11:59 PM, as the permission form will be taken down after this time so that we can create our survey rosters.
The Kansas Communities That Care student survey will be given in January 2023 and is open to current Blue Valley students in 6th, 8th, 10th, or 12th grade.
Blue Valley has participated in this survey for many years, and continued participation allows our staff to understand yearly trends, measuring the effect that our prevention and responsive programming has on our students.
The Kansas Communities That Care student survey is offered by schools across Kansas and is supported by Greenbush Education Service Center and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. The survey is built on a framework of prevention to support effective, evidence-based strategies in Kansas communities. The survey is voluntary, and parents or guardians must complete a form granting permission for their student to take the survey.
Questions for the Kansas Communities That Care Survey (KCTC Survey) can be found on the district website under “useful links.” Questions are related to substance use, school climate, bullying, depression, and suicide. The survey is completely anonymous, and no identifying student personal information is collected. The Blue Valley School District receives data summarized by school and our overall district results.
Permission for the Kansas Communities That Care survey can be entered in ParentVue until December 16, 2022. For questions related to the Kansas Communities That Cares survey please contact Mindy Wells, Coordinator of Student Support Services at mmwells02@bluevalleyk12.org or Adam Wade, Director of Academic Achievement & Accountability at awade@bluevalleyk12.org.

Student Support After School Program
Officer Tony Latas, BVN Student Resource Officer, and Sean Birdsong, BVN Student Support Liaison, are running a Student Support After School program. This program is Monday and Wednesday, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in room 602. This time is for students who are routinely waiting a few hours for rides after school, having any failing grades, and/or missing assignments that need to be completed.
This is also a good opportunity for students needing community service hours. If your student is interested in volunteering or you have questions, have your student see Officer Latas, Mr. Birdsong or any BVN Administrator. Thank you!

ParentVUE URL updated -- Action Needed
Over the summer the URL for ParentVUE changed. Click here for the new URL: ParentVUE
Parents will need to have the new URL or they won’t be able to login to ParentVUE or request a password reset. The Blue Valley School District website and the BVN website have both been updated with the new URL so the parents can access the link from Parent>ParentVUE.
In addition, this also impacts the ParentVUE app. Parents will need to update their device to the correct link.
Student Digital ID Cards
Students have a digital student ID card on their phones. If you paid for a Student Activity Pass, it should say that on the ID and students will show this to get into games. They can save their ID on their home page on an iPhone, or it can be saved as a favorite page on an android phone. If students were absent on Picture Day or if they have any trouble loading the ID, they can come to Student Services for help.
Family Activity Passes
All Family Activity Passes and Adult Individual Passes have been distributed. If you paid for your Family Activity Pass by the end of the day on September 13 but haven't received it yet, the cards were sent home with your student. If you purchase a pass after September 13, you need to contact Lori Freeman, BVN Bookkeeper, to obtain your cards.
Are you moving? Have you moved?
Please contact the BVN Registrar, Suzy Doherty, by email at sdoherty@bluevalleyk12.org .
Athletic Announcements
Student-Athletes Action Needed for 2022-2023
Starting July 1st, the Blue Valley School District is moving to an online format to submit all paperwork, including a new physical completed, signed and dated May 1, 2022 or after, by a physician. This paperwork is required for students involved in athletics and activities at the high school and middle school levels. The online system can be accessed directly through this link: https://bvnathletics.com/2022/06/30/new-online-physical-and-paperwork/ .
Spring Sports begin on February 27
Is your student participating in a spring sport: Baseball, Boys' Golf, Boys' Tennis, Girls' Soccer, Girls' Swimming and Diving, Softball or Track and Field? If yes, your student must have a current physical examination form and athletic packet submitted for review before the student is authorized to participate in practice or tryouts. We encourage you to get this completed over the winter break, as the deadline is February 24 by 3:00 p.m. If your student has been in another KSHSAA sport this school year, and already has their athletic paperwork on file, your student athlete is ready to participate. This paperwork is all on-line; the link is listed above.
BVN Athletics' Questions?
Please contact Stevie Gibson, BVN Athletics Administrative Assistant, at (913) 239-3011 or SGibson@abluevalleykk12.org .
