FROM THE DESK OF TERRI MILLER.......
Progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be, and if you have taken a wrong turn, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. ~C.S. Lewis
Are your students making progress towards their goal? How do you know? Collecting data will help you decide your next step. That next step may be going back and reteaching. Plan your strategies carefully. Make sure you differentiate for each performance level. Then administer a CFA to see if you are any closer to reaching your goal or if you need to go back and repeat the cycle.
Data Cycle Process Step One Collect and Chart Data Administer assessment Dividing student performance into categories (Advanced, Proficient, Basic, Below Basic) Add to Digital Data Wall and Data Cycle Wall in the Commons Step Two Analyze Data & Prioritize Needs Identify and prioritize student needs for each level of performance Make inferences about student learning Step Three Set, Review, or Revise SMART Goals Use data from Steps 1 and 2 to determine SMART Goal statement. Step Four Select Common Instructional Strategies Brainstorm, share, & discuss research-based instructional strategies that will have an immediate impact on student learning Agree upon how to put that strategy into place for each performance level of students Step Five Determine Results Indicators Determine what will be seen if the strategy is successful
Data Cycle Plan~The plan is for your Data Cycle Team Leader to lead your team through the data cycle process and to document your meetings in the team binder. The goal is for you to eventually use this process in every content area. In the binder are sheets to document the data that is collected and a place to write what strategies you will be implementing. It also has a calendar for you to keep dates of when you will be giving Pre-tests, CFA’s, etc. Please support your team leader in this process and be engaged participants. I would appreciate an invite any time that you meet with your team. If I’m available, I would love to be a part of your data meetings. Please let me know if you have any questions.
My Daily Schedule~My daily schedule is linked here for you to view.
TWW~Agendas are linked. See the agenda for items to bring and discussions to prepare for.
Come see me if you have any questions or concerns. Let me know how I can further support you and your students in the classroom.
