Annual Conservation Poster Contest
Two of our 6th grade students placed in the annual West Greeley Conservation District’s Annual Conservation Poster Contest! This year’s theme was: HEALTHY FORESTS, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES.
This is the fifth year Mrs. Hotra’s 6th grade art students have participated after learning about the science & importance of conservation and then creating artwork to represent their learning. The 2nd place winning artist is Cole Garrod who will receive a $75 prize. 3rd place goes to Savana Isom who gets a $50 check. Kristi Helzer, the Community Outreach and Education Coordinator for West Greeley says she is very proud of all the work the students submitted this year. Now their posters will continue on to the state level of judging, and we wish them continued SUCCESS.
Windsor Optimist Club
The Windsor Optimist Club recognizes WMS students on a monthly basis.
In September, Jack was our Optimist Student of the month. Jack was nominated because, "Jack is always a positive light in and out of the classroom! He has a willing, helpful attitude and always has a smile on his face. We appreciate his attitude each and every day!" Congratulations, Jack!
For October, our Optimist Student of the Month is Taylor. She was nominated because, "Taylor is a model student in class and is the shining example of an Optimist. She is always smiling, positive, and eager to learn. Taylor is a leader and ready when help is needed at her table, or it’s time to share ideas in class. Congratulations, Taylor! You Rock!"
We are so proud and look forward to recognizing more young optimists!
SRO Student of the Week
His nomination read, "Linus is a positive example of a determined and polite students. The students at his table rise to his example, collaborating and working hard on their projects"
Hats-Off Teacher Award Recipient
Exciting news! We get to honor yet another staff member with "Hat's Off" recognition! Congratulations to Mr. Hill this time!
A grateful parent wrote, "Mr. Hill has taken time to build positive relationships with his students. My son says he absolutely loves and enjoys Mr. Hill’s class because he can help with anything in advisory, and he makes it fun. He says Mr. Hill is one of the best and hopes he can have him more as his teacher. Thanks for being a positive person in my son’s life, and thank you for all you do for him and others. Making students feel like they are awesome, growing, and smart children in a safe environment is truly a gift.

Mrs. Brandl and Mrs. Brown have continued to get to know students through Cocoa with Counselors. Counselors have been working through Naviance with students in the classroom during advisory. This tool allows students, families, and educators to work together to help our middle school students complete their Individual Career Academic Plan (ICAP) requirements and prepare for their future. Counselors have started groups with students this month to help support an accepting, safe school. Next month, lessons in the classroom with consistent empathy and different perspectives.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
When adults respond quickly and consistently to bullying behavior they send the message that it is not acceptable. Research shows this can stop bullying behavior over time.
Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe environment and being an active respondent in student problem solving.

Nutrition Services Update
Weld RE-4's Nutrition Services staff plans school meal menus far in advance, however unprecedented food shortages and ingredient substitutes by suppliers are forcing last minute substitutions in some cases. That means that the ingredient list may differ from what was originally listed on the online menu. We do our best to make timely updates to the information online. However, please know that exact ingredients are still available daily at every Weld RE-4 kitchen where staff are aware of students who have signed medical forms requiring meal modifications.
In addition, there are currently school milk shortages due to processing issues as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
If you have any questions please contact the district's Nutrition Admin Support, Tracy Beistel, at tracy.beistel@weldre4.org.
