Ancient Chinese Contributions
Five of Many
Ancient China has contributed to both modern China and other nations in many ways. These are just five of the most important contributions.
Top Five Contributions of Ancient China
#5: The Great Wall - Qin Dynasty
Starting off the List is the well known landmark and tourist attraction of China. But the wall has served a great purpose: keeping out the Mongols and other Invaders. I ranked this number five because it did not help anyone except for the Chinese, except maybe spawning the idea of a similar wall being built in modern culture...
#4: Standarized Money and Measure system - Qin Dynasty
Before the rule of Qin Shi Huangdi, money and units of measurement were not standardized, and there was much confusion. But when Shi Huangdi became the first emperor, units of measure and money were standardized among all of China. This solved all of the confusion. I ranked this number four because, while it did help China, not to mention the rest of the world, China was not alone in making this the standard for all of the modern world.
#3: Cast Iron - Han Dynasty
Cast iron is an alloy of iron and carbon, and is called cast iron because of its ability to be easily casted into a mold. During the Han dynasty, it was used to create weapons, tools, and armor. However, cast iron is now used most commonly used in cooking accessories, generally skillets.
I chose to put cast iron in the number three spot because of the many uses society has found for it, and its universal use. It a durable metal alloy that is known for it's usefulness.
