Traffic Changes Coming

I have shared your concern about the continued issues with traffic on Jefferson Parkway during arrival and especially dismissal times. It is time for a change as it is so contentious every afternoon with someone feeling the need to swear at my staff or myself every day. In working with the City of Northfield, we plan to change the traffic pattern entering and exiting our school beginning on Oct. 25, 2021, which is right after the MEA break.

The plan will change the entrance to the school from Jefferson Parkway to Division Street (Highway 246) with traffic being one-way on campus and exiting at Jefferson Parkway. This approach will allow us to double the number of vehicles that can be lined up on our school property instead of backing up onto Jefferson Parkway. We have a limited number of options to impact the traffic problems on school grounds positively, and this change is the best one we have available to us.

More details will be coming in future updates over the next several weeks, but I wanted you to know that this change is coming.

School Pictures

School Pictures were taken on Tuesday, Sept. 28th. You may pay for pictures online at strawbridge.net using code FM362884. Make sure that you use your child's given name, and not their nickname. Orders may be placed up to four days after the photo session with no added fees.

Picture Retake Day

Wednesday, Nov. 9th is Picture Retake Day in case your child was absent and missed Picture Day. I will send out the online link as soon as I receive it.

Sick Students

Please contact your child's teacher and/or case manager if your child is out of school due to quarantine or otherwise. This will help your child keep up with his/her school work while they are away. If they are too sick to do any work, we surely understand. Please don't send sick students to school.

No School Oct. 21-24

Oct. 21-24 is MEA Break with no school for students and staff.

VFW Essay Contest

See the details below for the VFW Essay Contest with a chance to win $100 for your child's teacher to use in the classroom.

Attendance Line

Please call the Bridgewater attendance line if your child is going to be absent from school. This number can be accessed 24 hours a day. 507-664-3306 is the number and this is at the top of your Bridgewater magnet that you received at your Family Conference. We will place a phone call to families that we don’t hear from by the morning; this is done for the sake of safety. Thank you for your help!

Change of Plans

It is always best when you establish a consistent routine with your child to follow at the end of each school day. If you have a change in plans, please send a note with your child just in case there is a guest teacher that day. During the day, calls may be made to the Bridgewater Office; please don't rely on sending an email to your child's teacher after noon as teachers don't always have time to check email while they are teaching. Please call before 2:30. If a student does not have a note, they will be sent on their normal route.
