Keep our Dawes Students and Families Safe
Please remember to follow all traffic rules when dropping off or picking up at Dawes to ensure the safety of students and community members. Thank you!
We take the safety of our children very seriously and have identified that morning drop off and afternoon pick up times have become congested and difficult to pick up your child. We can do our best to alleviate some traffic congestion with everyone’s cooperation. Please follow these guidelines for your safety and the safety of your children.
Hamlin and 81st Place will be closed daily at 2:20 pm. Vehicles will be able to access 81st Place and Hamlin to pick up students from the modular units and Door #2 once the buses arrive around 2:45 p.m.
Springfield will be closed in both directions, north and south, between 81st Place and 81st Street. Family members picking up students from Door #4 and Door #5 will continue to drive eastbound on 81st Street. Family members can still access Hamlin Avenue to pick up students dismissed through Door #6. Vehicles disregarding the street closures will be cited. See the map below for street closures
- Do NOT double park along 81st Street, 81st Place, Hamiln, and/or Springfield
- Follow all traffic laws (speed limit, one-ways, stop signs, etc.)
- Exercise good judgment and reduce speed during congested times of day
- Drivers: please pay close attention to students and families who are crossing the street
- Parents: please remind your child not to cross the street between cars
