Message from the Principal...
I would like to give a huge shout-out, "THANK YOU" to all of the parents and families that have been doing their best to keep up with all of the elearning assignments. Communication is key. I appreciate all of the phone calls that I have been receiving from you. I know that the teachers are continuously texting, emailing and having google hangouts to keep in close contact with their students and parents. Please keep in contact with your child's teacher when you need assistance. Please remember, you can take pictures of completed work and either email, text or dojo it back to the teacher if necessary.
This week is Teacher Appreciation week. Please take some time out to thank your child's teacher. Their teachers truly miss them. They care about how they are doing at home and wishing them emotional stability and academic success during these unstable time.
This week, the students will be NWEA testing. There will be no elearning assignments/packets sent home. Please work with your children on accessing their tests and allowing them to complete the testing as independently as possible. Remember your children have taken this test at least twice this year, it shouldn't be an unknown or seem absolutely foreign. Step by step directions are posted below. If you need assistance during the test, please contact your child's teacher. Also, if you have come and picked up an iPad/charger from the Elementary school, please return them after testing or once elearning assignments have commenced, prior to the last day of school-May 22.
We have tagged and bagged all of the students items that have been left in their lockers- notebooks, folders, personal items, etc. Next week the following schedule has been put together for parents to come in and pick up their child's items, between 9:00-3:00. All of the items will be left in the Elementary Foyer for pick up.

Thank you for being patient as we work through remote NWEA testing. The plan is as follows:
Teachers will administer NWEA testing in homerooms on Tuesday, May 5th, 6th and 7th. We will follow the schedule: Tuesday (reading), Wednesday (Math), Thursday (Language Arts). Each morning teachers will need to send a new login with the day’s password and session ID. This should go out at 9am.
STUDENTS should sign into the test sessions from 9am-noon, as the test sessions will be open through 3:00pm. Teachers will be available for assistance throughout the day- from 9:00am-3:00pm.
1). On your testing device, start MAP in one of the following ways:
School issued iPAD → Open the NWEA Testing APP
- Any other device: type: test.mapnwea.org into the search bar
*This will open a browser on your device. If you close out of the browser for any reason, your test administrator will need to approve your test to continue.
OPTIONAL: If you’d like to become more familiar with the test use either of the links on the log-in page:
Try the Practice Test (about 5 non-scored, example questions)

Select NEXT
Review the information is correct, if it is correct, select YES
Once your test administrator has confirmed your test select START TEST
Give this test your best effort. It is a chance to show how much you know. Your teach will use it to choose what you are ready to learn next. Some questions will be easy, and others will be more difficult. You cannot get all the answers correct, but that is okay. If you do not know the answer to a question, then ask yourself which answers are definitely wrong, and then choose from the other answers. Read every question and try your best.
Before you finish a question, you may change your mind and pick a new answer. But, once you move to the next question, your answer is locked, and you cannot go back to the question you have already answered.
Your teacher will be available to help if is a problem during the test. If you need an alternate time to test, please make arrangements with your teacher.
IDOE Continuous Learning Challenges- Week #5
Continuous Learning Weekly Challenges- Week #5
The Continuous Learning Challenges are weekly choice boards specifically designed without technology in mind. The skill sets of the Continuous Learning Challenge are connected to Michael Fullan’s Deep Learning Competencies. These are great activities to ask your child to try on their own or with a little help. Your challenge is to complete at least two activities from each row for the week. An extra challenge is to create your own activities that would apply to each Continuous Learning Skill and complete them. Please share any examples of the completed challenges to social media tagging @EducateIN(link is external).
