Primer August Summer Newsletter
August 1, 2015
Update
Recently, I wrapped up at The International Literacy Association conference. Martha Bowden, LS computer teacher and I presented a session on learning to read and learning to code. We also presented at the Technology in Action conference in Denton, TX about the hidden benefits of coding.
Finally, check out the Getting Ready for the 2015-2016 school page to ensure you have all of the dates, forms and information you need. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
Health and Welleness
To start the conversation with the Primer students this school year, I would like to request a photo of your child completing a physical activity of their choice. These activities can be walking, jumping rope, hiking, dancing, playing outside, etc. I would love to make a display at school to show what activities the Primer students completed over the summer. The photo should display your child completing an activity. Please email a summer activity photo by August 21. Thank you.
Dallas County Texas Master Gardners
Along with sharing with their passions, students will have demonstration lessons where they will make things such as wildflower seed balls. Gardeners will be using a curriculum designed by the Texas A & M Agriculture department. I am excited at the possibilities that await.
