Language Arts
We also began learning about epidemics, especially the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793 in Philadelphia. This week students checked out the novel Yellow Fever, 1793 by Anderson and will need to begin bringing it to class on Monday of next week. We began begin the week with an Internet Workshop and a Google Classroom assignment.
Articles of the Week is due on Monday. Students can do this online or they were told to print one from Classroom this week in the labs.

Mathematics
This week all of the students took math benchmarks. I believe some were disappointed in their scores. 2nd and 3rd period will definitely finish Topic 1- Integers before the holiday. Please know that all students can work on IXL at home or at the public library if they would like to do extra reviewing. I also recommend www.buzzmath.com . Have a great week!

Science
This week in Science, students began their study of genetics and heredity. We are learning many new vocabulary words to facilitate our understanding of how traits are passed from parent to offspring. Students have created note sheets to help them study these terms at home. We will be learning how to predict the probability of the passing of a trait from parent to offspring using Punnett Squares.
Students in our 2nd block Science class also had the opportunity to participate in an activity with the Nursing Fundamentals students from FTF this week. It was a good experience and fun for all. Ask your student what they learned about their blood pressure, heartrate, and respiration.
