October Newsletter
St. Dominic School 2020-2021
Principal's Message
Dear St. Dominic Families,
As Father Tom mentions regularly at Mass, our kids are doing an amazing job, and I couldn't be prouder. Our in person learners are wearing masks, washing their hands, and maintaining social distance. Our remote learners are joining the required meetings, participating in class, and wearing their uniforms each day. The entire school community is pulling together to help our kids continue to learn. I am so grateful for all that you do as parents to support us in that.
We continue to reflect on our health and safety practices as well as our remote learning plan. After six weeks of school, there are a few areas we are working to improve. Please take a moment to complete the appropriate survey to provide us with more feedback.

I have enrolled St. Dominic School in a data collecting effort called the National School COVID-19 Dashboard. This initiative was started by a statistician at Brown University and is intended to help the country monitor cases of COVID in school students or staff using quantifiable data. You can learn more here: https://covidschooldashboard.com/.
If any of our remote learning families wish to make a change for the second quarter to in person, please let me know. We are happy to welcome you back.
In October, we honor Mary. One of our traditions at St. Dominic School is to pray a Living Rosary together. We do this by having each bead of the Rosary be represented by a student. Of course, this year, we cannot put everyone together into the gym, so we have had to get creative and use technology to make it happen. We will hold our Living Rosary on Thursday, October 14.
There are lots of upcoming FEA sponsored events. Check out their news below. We will also take part in Red Ribbon Week, which includes activities that raise awareness of drug abuse and teach students to make healthy choices. This week is the last of the month, so look for more information about the much-loved chore chart and other Red Ribbon Week details.
We have so much happening around St. Dominic School, and we couldn't do it without you.
God bless you,
Mrs. Covington

Bulldog Club News
A Message from Athletic Director, Tim Sokal:
Bulldog soccer season is under way and while it's been challenging at times it has been great to see the student athletes out on the field! A HUGE Thank You to the volunteer coaches, the players and you the parents for working together during this pandemic to keep everyone safe by following the COVID checklist, wearing masks, and properly social distancing! Same goes for our Puppies soccer too!!
Next up is Basketball which unfortunately brings up some different COVID challenges. Several Catholic school basketball tournaments have already been canceled and CYO has not published their basketball calendar, procedures or schedule yet. With this being said, we would like to gauge the interest in bringing our community kids together to play basketball. Of course we would follow CDC, State and CYO COVID-19 guidelines (once available) but the practices and season may look a little different. Please type in the below URL to fill out the short survey to let us know how your family feels about playing this year. Thank you.
