TMES School Counseling Newsletter

October 2021

Ms. Cooper's Corner

Happy October everyone! At the beginning of October, students will be finishing the Zones of Regulation lessons. Each student has a packet they have begun working on, entitled "My Green Zone Game Plan". This packet has student-completed information about their triggers, preferred coping strategies, and the "Support Tree" where they've identified safe adults both at home and at school they can talk to. Students will take this home once completed so that you can have this information for your reference. Since October is National Bullying Prevention Month, the second half of October's classroom guidance will focus on bullying prevention. The month of October will conclude with our students signing the "No Place for Hate" pledge, where they will take a stand in solidarity with their classmates in being upstanders against bullying.

Ms. Patchan's Place

Hi Marshall Family!

This month and into the beginning of October we will be finishing our Zones of Regulation lessons and discussing our triggers and strategies to help us cope with strong feelings. Towards Mid-October we will begin our bullying prevention lessons for National Bullying Prevention month. This month's lessons will conclude with students signing the " No Place for Hate Pledge" and pledging to be an upstander instead of a bystander.

Additionally, we have selected our SCA candidates for this year. Congratulations everyone!!!

If your student brought home a permission slip, please sign and have them return it to me as soon as possible. Thank you!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

October is recognized as National Bullying Prevention Month. Here at Marshall, we want to continue to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, medical condition, etc. This is a great opportunity for our students to celebrate their similarities and differences, focus on the importance of respect for self and others, as well as standing up against bullying behaviors and biases. Here are some resources for your reference on bullying and the Prince William County School's process regarding bullying allegations:
