Grade 4 Magnet
February/March
Structurally Sound
Module 3 is well under way and our focus is structure. Structure is essential to all parts of life. Whether it is the simple structure of a statement we are making, the complex structure of the human body, or the fundamental structure of a text, it can be found anywhere. The more we know about the structure of something and how "it" came to be, the more we will truly understand whatever "it" is. In this module we will investigate the structure of our Maryland heritage during times of turmoil and growth. We will determine the essential structure of internal and external body parts of plants and animals that support information processing. We will analyze the structural elements of our mathematical world and the foundations of writing with an opinion. In the coming months, talk about structure with your child and keep a log of examples in Google Drive, Keynote, or Google Slides. At the end of the marking period he/she can share these examples with me or the class and earn scholar dollars. Stand strong, and be structurally sound!

Fantastic Evidence Leads to Outstanding Opinions
As you can tell, I had some fun writing this from the point of view of someone who wanted to share an opinion. I used my own thoughts and feeling as inspiration and added other evidence to support my point of view. I also even managed to address a counterargument. Needless to say, I am excited to practice the importance of opinion writing this marking period.
