WASD Strategic Plan
"Do what you love, and success will follow. Passion is the fuel behind a successful career."--Meg Whitman, American Business Executive
Our Path Note Topic
An example of one of the pillars moving ahead is the Career Pillar. Jason Wetherald is the lead on this pillar. This pillar has a large base committee and several subcommitties. One project they are working on is an elementary career fair. The career fair is not a one and done activity. It is being developed so it will integrate with the Whole Child Pillar and have next steps to integrating into a child's learning.
On March 31st for Hooverville and Fairview and April 1st for Mowrey and Summitview students in grades 3-5 will attend a Career Fair. It will include vehicle careers in which some vehicles will be parked in the parking lot for learners to see. Spheros that are programmed robotic orbs (STEM) will be available for student interaction. Who Stole the Cookies is a crime scene investigation program students will have a chance to interact with. In addition, there will be 12 stations with various businesses doing activities with kids that reflect the field the business is connected. Two businesses from each career cluster will be present.
There will also be a Kindergarten to Grade 2 program held at each school. That career exploration will also be student interactive.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Melanie Bitner. Melanie is very organized and always prepared for class. All of her lessons are accessible and very user friendly on schoology for student who are absent. When students are absent, she works with them to make up their assignments and gives them ample time to turn it in. Mel explains things in a way all students, including LS students, can understand. I have never seen her get angry or upset even with some very difficult students. Her calmness and thoroughness makes for a great classroom setting. In addition to being a great teacher for the students, she works very well with other adults in the room. There is always a feeling of Team Work.
Congratulation Melanie Bitner for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
