December 1, 2017

And before we knew it, December is HERE!

Dear Parents,

This will be a very busy month but we also do not want the children to be derailed from learning. We want them to find joy and have fun while at the same time remaining focused. We need your help to accomplish that. Please stay on top of your kids and check Renweb frequently. Also, we encourage you to take advantage of our Holiday worship opportunities because that really is what Christmas is all about. If you do not have a church home, or even if you do, we would love to see you at Holy Cross and I think you will find that we have a very diverse and friendly congregation. I have included information on our Christmas worship opportunities. Our first Wednesday evening Advent service is this Wednesday.

I have attached a December lunch menu and an updated calendar to this newsletter.

Thank you for your patience in the parking lot at dismissal yesterday. The field trip was delayed and all of the parents who chaperoned the field trip (thank you!) had their cars parked in the parking lot. So, no parking was available and lots of parents had to wait. We appreciate your understanding.

Special Christmas offering

For many years, we have been supporting GOOD SHEPHERD ORPHANAGE in Carefour, Haiti at Christmas-time. This facility cares for children who do not have parents but in addition, they provide a wonderful Christmas dinner and a Christmas gift to 2,000 children from the countryside. They send buses to pick them up and bring them back to the orphanage. Each child leaves with a full stomach and with a Christmas gift. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back and I encourage you to give your children offering, as generous as possible, on each chapel day. Our goal is to raise $2,000. Checks are of course accepted.

Cold Weather Jacket and Sweater Policy

If you review our dress code, you will see that students in K through 8th grade may wear sweaters and jackets that are SOLID COLORED Navy, Black, White or Gray ONLY. If your child does not have such a sweater or jacket, please obtain one over the weekend.

Or if you prefer, you can order a sweatshirt from Sunshine. My understanding is that these are now in stock and are shipping.

Sweatpants ARE NOT part of school uniform. They may be worn to school ON PE DAYS ONLY if the weather is very cold. Every student should have a pair of long school pants.

Girls may wear tights to school ON COLD DAYS under their jumpers or skorts.

A cold day is defined as temperature below 60 degrees before school. However, please keep an eye of the weather prediction because it can quickly heat up to high 70's and then your child may get too hot.
