Claires Court Bulletin
JUNIOR BOYS
Bulletin 8 | Autumn Term 2016
FROM THE HEAD'S DESK
As I am away at the Headteachers’ Conference I will allow my staff and pictures to re-tell the week. However, I would like to mention the unbelievably inspiring incidents that occurred on Thursday morning when myself, the staff and the boys, welcomed Susan Payne into our assembly. She is starting to do some work with us and I hope that you will see her in school occasionally – she is delighted to be back.
What with a week of unexpected election results and the importance of Remembrance Day, I will write more next week on these influential topics.

NOTES & TO DOs
FROM THE SPORTS MASTER
We have returned to school to a very busy week of sport . Our U9A & B teams travelled to St Columba's on Tuesday for an all day rugby festival. Both teams played admirably and improved as the day went on picking up some excellent wins along the way. The A team finished having won three, drawn two and lost one, while the B team won three and lost three.
Our U10A team travelled to a rugby festival at Oratory Prep on Wednesday. They won against Caldicott, Moulsford and two other teams, and drew two matches, winning the Tournament.
On Thursday our U11A & B teams departed for a rugby tour in Cornwall. They have a very busy weekend ahead playing four matches in four days and we all wish them the best of luck.
The remainder of Year 6 have been completing first aid and bushcraft activities. See our gallery below.
Since we have returned to school you will have notice that the temperature has plummeted so could I ask you to make sure that your son always has his tracksuit with him.
Can all Year 4 parents please be aware that all Year 4 boys will be having their team photos taken on Tuesday. Please ensure that you all boys have clean kit.

FROM THE CHESS GRAND MASTER
The 16th Claires Court Chess Festival
Well, tomorrow is the big day, and a big day it will be too, with a record number of entries received to date. Children are coming from all over the south and west of England in order to take part, hoping to qualify for the London Junior Championship in December, or just playing for the love of chess and wanting to do their very best.
At the last count we have sixteen Claires Court boys taking part, which gives us an excellent chance of winning the School Cup.
Our very best wishes go out to all those CC boys who are representing the school.
Chess lessons
I mentioned before half-term that there were a couple of slots available for chess lessons with Mr Tuck. These slots have now been filled, though I would be happy to put your son on a waiting list should he be keen to have lessons.

And finally... Claires Court Horse Riding Team
Claires Court Horse Riding Team has had considerably success over the last number of years with many of our riders competing at a high level. The team relies on the huge support of committed parents and pupils and we are pleased to inform you that Mrs Karen Richardson-Scarfe has agreed to oversee this valuable activity for the forth coming future.
We are presently enquiring if there are any pupils’ girls or boys who are interested in taking part in Horse Riding Competition for the Claires Court School Riding Team. Pupils will need to have their own Pony.
Please contact Karen by email.
