Linda Sue Parks was born in Urbana, Illinois on March 25, 1960, and grew up outside Chicago. She is the daughter of Korean immigrants and has been writing poems and stories since the age of four. Linda went through school and wrote more poems, and then she went to Stanford university and competed for the gymnastics team. Linda graduated and married an Irishman and had two children. She taught English in London, then moved back to the USA and wrote her first children's novel called "Seasaw Girl" in 1997. She began writing more novels and eventually wrote books such as "A Long Walk to Water".
