Georgia Department of Education has new PE standards that are to be implemented in 2019-20. Representatives from the Department of Education will be here for two sessions to train on the new standards. Middle and high school PE teachers can work within their departments to choose which session they would like to attend.

Participants will participate in professional development mini-sessions to include discussion of writing rubrics and graphic organizers. This opportunity will serve as the introduction to the ELA Summer Writing Institute scheduled for June 12th and 13th. Participants approved by school principals should complete the paperwork in CabNet and secure classroom coverage.

The Math Curriculum meetings will be held for each specific grade level. These sessions will include reviewing supplemental resources being used at each of the schools, discuss and make possible adjustments to our scope and sequence, and introduce the new version of the pacing guide. Each school has been asked to send a representative for each grade level.

College Readiness Mathematics Summer Professional Learning

This is a three-day, professional learning session which focuses on evidence-based, effective mathematics instructional strategies to assist in preparing students for post-secondary options. Participants must register for this professional learning opportunity no later than May 6, 2019, by completing the registration form at College Readiness Summer Professional Learning Institute.

This is a 2-day workshop offering professional development focused on specific grade bands (K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, 6th-8th, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II). Areas of focus include improving teacher knowledge, supporting productive struggle, experiencing engaging, rich tasks aligned to GSE standards, and classroom strategies to meet the needs of ALL learners.

Lights, Camera, Econ- The Economic Impact of the Film and TV Industry in Georgia (Grades 8, 9-12)
Georgia is now one of the largest hubs for television and film production in the c world. This one-day workshop for 8th - 12th grade teachers focuses on the various characteristics of Georgia that make this possible including Georgia's infrastructure, its location, crew-base, and the all-important tax credit. There is no registration fee for this workshop, instructional materials are provided, substitute reimbursement is available, and lunch is included.

Join West Georgia RESA as they host JoAnn Wood from the DOE explore historical thinking and literacy. During this interactive workshop, teachers will learn how to dissect a good history lab for primary grades to examine its anatomy.
