Mrs. Berger's First Grade News
September 16, 2016
Here is what we have been doing in class!
*We are in the process of completing district assessments. We will continue to do these over the next few week.
*In Reader's Workshop, we have gone books shopping and filled our book bins. We are learning the routine for Reader's Workshop. We are practicing "Read to Self" and building our stamina.
*In Writer's Workshop, we have started talking about Small Moments. This is a way to write a personal narrative, learning how to add details to highlight all of the moments.
*In Math Workshop, we have started Unit 1, Partners and Number Patterns Through 10. We have been working with our math boards, "stair steps", and other manipulatives to look at how we can make groups of 10.
*In Social Studies, we talked about Constitution Day, which is September 17. We read "We the Kids" a book about the Preamble. If you haven't read it, I suggest you check it out!
*Thank you for your Scholastic Book orders!
*Please remember to send a PEANUT FREE snack daily.
*Please send in a set of headphones with your child, preferably by next week. The earbud kind work best (and they are easy for storing). If these do not work for your child, please send in a type that does. We will store them here, so please do not send in large headphones. Also, please make sure they are labeled.
*Please discuss lunch ordering options with your child ahead of time if I do not have a calendar for him/her.
*If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, please send me an e-mail!
*The link for our Curriculum Night Presentation is on our website.
