SAT/ACT Update: All UC's (University of California) and CSU's (Cal State) will be test-blind for the Fall 2022 admission cycle. UC's and the CSU's will NOT consider ACT or SAT scores when making admission decisions this fall. Also, the CSU's have announced they might be test-optional starting Fall 2023.
Senior Announcements!
Senior Graduation Survey
Seniors must complete the Senior Grad Survey in order to receive their diploma!
- This survey lets us know your plans for next year!
- If you’re attending a 4-year college, the survey will inform Karl Steinbrecher (Student Data Analyst) where to send your final official transcript.
Need directions on how to access the survey? Click Here. After completing the survey, please see Ms. Murtagh in the Career Center to pick up your Graduation Checkout Form.
Applying to Community College?
Seniors attending community college this fall should start signing up for classes NOW!
- If you haven't yet registered for classes, follow these Community College Registration Steps
- Need help? Schedule an appointment with Ms. Murtagh or your school counselor ASAP!

UC Berkeley Field Trip!
SMUHSD Summer School 2022
Dates (1 class per session):
- Session 1: June 3 - 21, 8:30 a.m. - 12:50 p.m. daily
- Session 2: June 22 - July 8, 8:30 a.m. - 12:50 p.m. daily
- SMUHSD summer school is only for students who need to repair a "D" or "F" grade (with the exception of Accelerated Geometry)
- If you will not pass a class this semester, contact your counselor to request to repeat it in summer school. Counselors are available until June 2, 2022.
- Late registration is first-come, first-served! On June 2, 3 and 6 between 8am and 1pm, families can register at the Summer School Office @ San Mateo High School, Building A, 2nd floor. Call (650) 558-2398 for more info.

Take a Community College Course
Did you know students can take community college classes for FREE while they're in high school? It's called Concurrent Enrollment, and it's a great way to save money by getting a head start on college credits. To sign up for a class this summer, students must follow the steps on our School Counseling website. To view a list of offerings, check out the Summer Course Schedules.
