Middle School Update....
Several times, the students heard the recommendation to attend the NMS Summer Orientation. There is a flyer in today's Friday Folder as well as information posted here:
NORTHBROOK MIDDLE SCHOOL
SIXTH GRADE SUMMER ORIENTATION
Join us this summer to learn how to have a successful year as a sixth grader. Summer Orientation sessions include: “THE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE,” “CAMPUS SCAVENGER HUNT,” “STUDY & SOCIAL SKILLS,” “PREVIEWING MIDDLE SCHOOL CONTENT,” “S.T.E.M. ACTIVITIES” and more!
Choose one of two Summer Orientation sessions from 9:00am to 2:00pm: Monday, July 17 or Monday, July 24
The cost for a session is $40.00 and includes a NMS t-shirt. Lunch is not included and students will need to bring a sack lunch. Registration for orientation is now open in MyPaymentsPlus. Registration closes on May 26, 2017.

Fifth Fest is almost here!! Please read this important information...
Parent Reminders for the Fifth Fest
The Fest will be held Friday, May 19th. The rain date is Monday, May 22nd.
We are still in need of parent volunteers!
Please note the following:
* Please have a photo ID to display at check-in.
* You are welcome to bring a camera. Please DO NOT send cameras with students.
* We suggest applying sunscreen in the morning before school since the events will be held outdoors.
* Picnic begins at 11:30 outside on the playground.
* Do not bring outside food/drinks (ex: fast food, special treats) for your student. Students are required to eat lunches provided by school OR lunches sent from home in lunchboxes.
* If you are purchasing a school lunch for yourself, be sure you have your Lunch Ticket(s) with you. You will go through the cafeteria line and hand the staff your ticket(s) as you check out. Please remember that lost tickets will not be replaced.
* Water bottles will be provided for each student for the day. No additional drinks will be needed.
* You are welcome to bring a blanket or towel to sit on during the picnic.
* The Fifth Grade Walk will begin at 12:45.
* Please line the track outside. In order for it to be a fun event, please spread out so students can enjoy cheering the entire way around the track.
* Do not bring flowers, balloons, or special treats for your student during the Walk.
* All students will return to their classroom with their teacher after the Walk.
* There will be NO CHECKOUTS during Fifth Grade Fun Fest. This is for security purposes and the protection of your student.
* Fifth Grade Fun Fest will take place rain or shine. If it rains on May 19th, we will reschedule for Monday, May 22. If it rains on May 22, we will still have festivities in alternative locations on that day. Check in will be in the front lobby instead of outside. The picnic will take place in the classrooms and the Walk will take place in the gym.
