Dear McCarthy Families,
First and foremost, Happy New Year/Rosh Hashanah to all of our McCarthy Families who celebrate!
PLEASE JOIN US ON THURSDAY NIGHT FOR OUR CURRICULUM NIGHT!
Please mark your calendar for this Thursday night as we welcome you to our Curriculum Night from 6-7:30pm. This is an important opportunity for you to visit our school building, meet your student's teacher and get information about what your student is going to learn in school this year.
Your child's classroom teacher will present this information to families at 2 different times throughout the evening. One session includes translation services in Spanish and Portuguese. Please see the schedule below for these classroom presentations.
We also welcome you to visit with our specialist teachers - Physical Education, Music, Library and Art, who will be in their classrooms throughout the evening.
Our Math Coach, Mrs. Evans, our Literacy Coach Mrs. Adams, and our Social Emotional Behavioral coach, Mrs. Tesorero, will be in the cafeteria with some materials and to answer any additional questions you may have.
Our Student Support Team, including Mr Araujo, who services students in grades 1,3 and 5, and Mrs DeAraujo, who services students in Grades K,2 and 4 will be in the front foyer.
Our school nurse, Mrs Beatty, will be in the nurses clinic.
Our McCarthy School Parent Teacher Organization, our PTO, will be in our front foyer selling McCarthy wear, including t-shirts, hats, etc. They will also have information about our PTO, how you can join and volunteer in support of your student at McCarthy! Please be sure to stop by their table and say "Hi!"
Also, and importantly, while you are here, please take a few minutes to check out the lost and found, outside of our front office area. We have collected many items in our first few weeks of school, including several pairs of eye glasses, that we would like to get back to your child!
We look forward to seeing you and welcoming you into our beautiful school on Thursday night!
Cynthia Page, Principal
Marcella Sancho, Vice Principal (Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade)
Lisa DiDonato, Vice Principal (1st, 3rd and 5th grade)

Who's Who at McCarthy School!
Community Meetings for Students start this Friday!
Friday will be our first monthly Community Meeting for all of our students. What is a Community Meeting you ask? At McCarthy, Community Meetings are a time for grade levels to come together as a team, to share out highlights of responsible behavior that were seen in September (Responsibility was the Character Trait for September) and to introduce the character trait of October which is Respect. It is also a time for classrooms to "share/shout out" something special that they have done tied to our Expectations or Instruction this past month. They can include McCarthy Meerkat Cash celebrations, activities, and even some other fun surprises!
To celebrate these first Community Meetings,
Friday will be our first
McCarthy School Spirit Day!
Students are invited to wear their favorite color or colors to school that day to celebrate their hard work as we started the year!
School Pictures are October 12th
Officer Read Aloud in its 4th year at McCarthy!
This past week McCarthy School was pleased to welcome six Framingham Police officers to our school for the Officer Read Aloud program with our 2nd graders. The program is now in its fourth year at McCarthy and is a wonderful opportunity for our second graders to get to know many different officers from the Framingham Police Department and to build positive relationships with them. With the help of the 2nd grade teachers, the officers select a book to read, read the book to the students, and then provide the students the opportunity to ask questions of the officers. It is a fun and exciting learning opportunity for both the students and the officers!
The program, which started at McCarthy, has expanded to other elementary schools in the district and will continue monthly here throughout the school year.

Wrap Around Coordinator Update
If you were working with Wes, I know you have already been assigned a new coordinator partner.
If you are in need of Wrap services, please contact our main office. They will connect you with the director of Wrap Coordination services.
Introduction to Remind!
If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is a free service that allows you to get messages directly on your phone and to communicate easily with your child’s teacher(s) in almost any language.
Here is a video demo to see how Remind works. This video is available in Spanish and Portuguese too. If your teacher(s) are going to use Remind, you will receive communication from them directly.
Dismissal Process- PLEASE READ
If you have not already, please send a note, email into your child's classroom teacher to confirm how your child goes home each day, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
If you need to CHANGE that typical dismissal plan, you MUST notify your child's classroom teacher by the start of the school day-send in a note or email before 8:00.
If there is day of change to your child's typical routine, you MUST CALL THE MAIN OFFICE at 508-626-9161 BEFORE 2:00 PM. Your child will be dismissed in the manner we have on file if we do not hear from you before 2:00pm.
Families who pick up their child from the WALKER door or who have approved for their child to WALK ALONE from the walker door, please scroll below to read further changes to the WALKER DOOR dismissal process.
Thank you for your assistance as we continue to refine our dismissal process to ensure all students get where they need to be at the end of the day.
WALKERS & WALKER DOOR
Student Walkers who walk alone: Families who have approved for their child to walk home alone, please be on the lookout for an email requesting verification of that approval. We recognize that you may have verbally confirmed this previously but we are looking to get a quick and clear confirmation via email. Thank you!
Walker Procedure: All adults picking up students from the walker door will line up in 2 lines at the cones that will be placed at the corner of the building. Once the school day ends and walker door staff arrive, they will remove cones to allow the lines to come forward to the walker door. This is essential to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff. Thank you for your understanding!
*Please refer to the map below for a visual of walker door procedures. LOOK FOR THE GREEN
