WINTER SPORTS SEASON-IN-REVIEW

We closed the book on our Winters sports season last week and I'm extremely proud of our athletes. All of our programs demonstrated high character and improved tremendously over the course of the season. Although we didn't bring home any league titles, we had many good results to show for our efforts.

The Girls Water Polo team along with both the Boys and Girls Basketball teams made the playoffs. All three teams played on the road against solid opponents and unfortunately couldn't move on. We also had the most Wrestlers we've ever had qualify for CIF, both male and female wrestlers. That also includes a handful that moved on as qualifiers for the Masters meet out in Palm Desert. Among those wrestlers, was Giovanni Dantas, who was the PCL champion in his weight class.

I'm appreciative of the work our coaches did with these programs, which included four new head coaches this year out of the six programs. Thank you also to our student-athletes from our Winter sports for representing BHS well.

Spring Sports are on!

The Spring sports season is upon us and I'm looking forward to seeing our athletes compete. It's our busiest season with 11 Varsity-level teams participated by over 600 student-athletes. Last Spring, we brought home five league titles, so the bar has been set for our programs this year.

Our Spring teams were able to begin competitions on Feb. 11 and most have been able to get a few games or matches in thus far. Most of them will play through their Spring Break and conclude the regular season in late April with CIF playoffs concluding in the middle to late May. We wish all of our Spring sports programs the best of luck this year! Go Pats!

OCADA ATHLETES OF CHARACTER

Once a year, we get an opportunity to honor two student-athletes that represent the finest our department has to offer in terms of attitude and character. The Orange County Athletic Director's Association sponsors this event where we spotlight these two athletes in front of their peers from all the other high schools in the county including their parents. This year, we honored Seniors Sydney Bertoni and Owen Texter. They are pictured below receiving their certificates from CIF Commissioner, Rob Wigod.

summer sports camps at bhs

We are just beginning to put together the camps we'll be offering this summer along with the dates/times of when they'll be offered. Most of our programs will be running a summer camp. At those camps, it's expected that all current athletes as well as all interested incoming Freshmen are in attendance. We will not be able to publish our summer camp information until sometime in April when it's approved by our School Board. If there's a camp or two you're interested in and you need info prior to April, please email the head coach of that program for specifics. It's understood that some summer plans may have already been made prior to knowing the camp dates, but please keep in mind that athletes will not be invited to join a 6th period sports class without attending the camp or having a proper tryout. Please be on the lookout for our Summer Camp info!

Reminder-Ticket Purchasing

For the 22-23 school year, Beckman spectators will again be purchasing their tickets through the CIF ticket partner GoFan. For those that attended games this past year, please use the same GoFan account for your purchases. For a first-time user, it will require a few minutes to create an account and a credit card is required to connect to that account. Please take a minute to download the App and have an account prepared to save you time at the gate/table.

Also, the Pacific Coast League has agreed to raise ticket prices this year. It will be $10 for General Admission and $5 for Students/Children/Seniors. For those that purchase the ASB decal for the 22-23 school year, you still get into to all BHS Home games(Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Wrestling) for Free, excluding playoff games.

Announcements

** Any athlete leaving school before the end of the school day must get signed out in the attendance office by their parent. Letting the athlete's coach know is important, but doesn't excuse the absence or approve the athlete to leave campus.

Please go to the Beckman Athletics webpage for all of the following important info and so much more(https://www.tustin.k12.ca.us/beckman/athletics

  • Clearance for 23-24 School Year - All athletes will need to get fully cleared over the summer prior to being placed in a 6th period sports class. Please don't attempt to do this before June 12th, but plan on getting your 23-24 physicals and clearance paperwork completed over the summer.
  • Coach's Contact Info for Summer programs or questions on Tryouts for the 23-24 year can be found on the Athletics webpage.

Thank you to all of the Beckman families for your support of our student-athletes and have a great Spring!
