Box Tops

Please clip and save Box Tops for our school!

We will be having classroom competitions to see which class can collect the most! The winning class will receive a pizza party. Please ask your friends and neighbors to save Box Tops for our school.

New 2nd Grade Teacher!

This is an exciting time at South School. Our Second Grade classrooms continue to grow. Due to these large numbers, we were able to hire another Second Grade teacher to reduce the number of students in each class. A smaller class size is a great benefit to everyone involved. Please help me give a warm South School welcome to Ms. Dunlap!

Conscious Discipline

FREE interactive and informative workshops for parents are available this year at the Southwest Early Childhood Center. ALL South parents are welcome to attend! Mark your calendars for the following dates:
  • Feb. 22nd from 6-8 PM
  • March 21st from 6-8 PM
  • April 4th from 6-8 PM

New Secretary at South

Please welcome Ms. Taryn to the South School Team. She is our new secretary and is a wonderful asset to our school. She is excited to learn all of your names and faces. Please introduce yourself to her when you come by.

Attendance Matters!

  • Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 17 days per year, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
  • At JCPS, it is our goal for schools to have an attendance rate above 90%. Right now, South is at 89.7%. We are SO close to our goal. Please make sure your child comes to school each day that they are not sick. Every hour of every day counts.
  • We appreciate your help in sending the message to students that school is important!
