Member Benefits
Being a member gives you access to conferences, newsletters, websites and journals.
It is also a recognized affiliate organization of the ILA (International Literacy Association).
In summary, the TALE seems like a good organization. The biggest thing it has going for it is that the cost is so very low compared to many professional educator associations. It also seems like a pretty small organization so if you're looking to be a part of one that you can really help with, this one's for you. Although, if you're looking for a large organization with very professional journals and newsletters that give only you and other members access to their research/articles, you may look for a different organization. I would definitely consider joining, especially if I am a reading teacher and live close to San Antonio or Austin where they have most of their conferences/events.
