From the Lion's Den

York Center Family Newsletter 2/11

The York Center Lions had another busy week of learning! Throughout the building, students were heard engaging in discussions on methods for problem-solving, interpretations of literature, and many other opportunities for learning! In an age where information is available at the click of a button, we must work to help children to think deeply about this information and learn to make sense of it. The children at York Center are fortunate to have educators that understand the skill-set students will need to be well equipped for the future!

Congratulations to our Destination Imagination Team!

A good time was had by all at Destination Imagination's fundraiser on Friday night for Do It For Aidan! The team put together fun activities and prizes for attendees. This group worked hard and we are very proud of them! Thank you for making a difference by raising funds for research on Danon Disease!

Morning Drop-off

If you drive your child to school, please drop them off in the parking lot on the west side of the building before 8:05 am. Students go to their classrooms at 8:05 am.

Children need to be dropped off in the parking lot and not at the main entrance. We have staff available near the parking lot to let students in, but not at the main entrance.

Please pull into the parking lot. We have had a few parents drop students off at the office door or along the curb, which creates a problem for our morning bus and arrival procedures.

Thank you!

Valentine's Day Celebrations!

Valentine's Day celebrations will take place on February 14th in the afternoon. Please remember that if your child chooses to bring Valentine Cards for their classmates, they should have one for every member of their class.

Our amazing PTA will be providing pizza, water, and a treat! If you'd like to help out with serving the pizza, please let us know! We'd love to have you!

We'd Love to Know YOUR Thoughts!

Our numbers have increased but we still need YOU!

Thank you so much to the parents that took the time to complete the 5 Essentials Survey. We know how valuable your time is and really appreciate your feedback.

Right now, 13% of our parents have completed this important survey. To receive our results, we need 20% of our parents to complete the survey. This survey provides important information for our school's report card for the state. Your input also helps us to know what we are doing well and what we can work on as a school community. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughtful input!

You can complete the survey in English or Spanish.

This survey closes February 15th.

From the Health Office....

According to our School District Policy, all medications require a School Medication Authorization Form to be completed by both a parent and the physician in order for the medication to be administered at school. A form is required for prescription and over the counter medications, including over the counter cough drops. If you have any questions, please call the Health Office.

Please be sure to call us at 630-516-6540 by 8:00 am if your child will be absent.

If you do not call and they are not here, we will need to mark your child as having an unexcused absence.
