The Bulldog Growl
Week of September 24th
"Reach Every Student Every Day"
- No School on Monday, October 8th in observance of Native American/Columbus Day.
- Fundraiser Packets are due on FRIDAY, Oct. 5th. Please make sure all order forms and money are enclosed in the packet upon returning them. Thank you for your support of our playground project. The link to the online site for the fundraiser is linked below.
- We hope that you are able to continue reading The Trumpet of the Swan with your child. If for some reason your child/family is falling behind, please have your 5th grader let me know and we will be sure to help them get caught up!
- Just a reminder to make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for recess. We want to keep all of our students safe and healthy as the weather changes!
Blast Off & Read ~ Reading Challenge: October
We had almost ALL of the students complete the Reading BINGO for the September Reading Challenge! That was great! Hopefully we can get everyone to get on board this month. I have sent home a pumpkin book report for each student to complete in order to earn their "VENUS" Reading Brag Tag. Students should complete the report over a book (at their independent level) that they have read in October. I am anxious to see their completed book reports!
Refugee (Global Read Aloud)
This week, we have started reading Refugee by Alan Gratz. It is a wonderful book that showcases three children's stories about being a refugee and trying to escape their homeland. We will spend 6 weeks reading this book as part of The Global Read Aloud program. We will spend time connecting with other 5th graders around the world. This is such a great opportunity and I am so excited to read this book with the kids! Ask them about the characters in the book! I hope they talk about it at home!
