CASLN December PD Workshop
Event Information
Windows and Mirrors: Selecting and Utilizing Multicultural and Culturally Relevant Children's Literature
We live in a diverse and ever-changing global society. Quality picture books and informational narrative texts will be the lens by which we will support how our students perceive themselves and others in the world in which we live. This down to earth researched presentation by Laura Beltchenko will explore the differences between diverse, multicultural and culturally relevant literature. Together we will explore how noted authors and illustrators create valuable literacy experiences though the stories they tell and the pictures that make words come alive. Websites, bibliographies and lesson ideas as well as a host of books will be available for review so that you can add to your school collections and classroom libraries. PD hours will be offered.
In addition, to this wonderful presentation, we will have a potluck holiday spread so please bring a dish to share. We will also have a book exchange so bring a book wrapped up with a note inside about why you are gifting this book.
Please RSVP by Dec. 1 for this workshop.
