Quote of the week
“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
― Lao Tzu
From Mr. Wingfield
Last week we officially moved into the new wing and everyone is loving it. I remind students all the time how lucky they are to have such great facilities and teachers. The bond has provided much needed space and additional resources for our students to be successful.
Our teachers have all shifted down and only one classroom remains in the foyer area of our campus. During activities, the doors to our campus will be sealed off and visitors and fans must only congregate in the auditorium or gym area depending on what activity is going on. This is to help secure our school and campus. On November 6th we will welcome the community to an open house so you can come see our new wing and other additions and upgrades provided by the recent bond.
On Tuesday, our 6th graders went to the Leon County Expo Center and attended a Health and Safety Fair. They had a great time and did an exceptional job of representing our school and community. They will have another field trip on November 8 to MSC OPAS where they will attend a play put on by the Texas A&M Theater Arts Society.
This homecoming week has been exciting and fun and our students have shown a lot of school spirit participating in daily dress up activities. It is especially exciting coming off a Friday Night Varsity Football win in West Hardin. Hopefully everyone will come out and support our Panthers on Friday Night as they take on the Groveton Indians!!
Congratulations to our HS/ MS Band on another great performance this week. They competed today at Waco La Vega HS at the UIL Band Competition and once again received 1st Division Ratings. This is back to back 1st Division Ratings for them. Our MS band participants are Jaxson Colle, Isaac Curtis, Lucas Nichols, Cooper Pate, and Sean Penry. Congrats to these students and Mr. Holcombe on their success this year. Hard work pays off!
All of us know someone that has been affected by breast cancer and although we always support friends and family throughout the year, October is breast cancer awareness month. This month we will be wearing pink. You might ask why pink. Such a gentle, caring color-the exact opposite of breast cancer; invasive, aggressive, indiscriminate. The pink ribbon became the a symbol for breast cancer in 1992 for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, It represents the fight and fear of breast cancer, but also hope for the future.
October is also Down Syndrome Awareness Month. It has been recognized every October since 1980. It's purpose is to raise public awareness and to advocate for acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. It is also a time to make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.
Please look at every section below in order to get updates on events and/or any other pertinent information regarding Normangee MS and NISD.
In an effort to continually keep our students and campus safe, all parents will need to physically enter the building in order to check out your child for any reason. We will pull your child out of class when you arrive and have gone through the check-out procedures. Thanks for your cooperation.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.

Recently we have had several reports of inappropriate behavior on the buses. When drivers cannot focus on the road it creates a safety issue for every student on the bus.
