3rd Grade Newsletter

May 16th - 20th

This Week in 3rd Grade

1. Three week progress reports are available for viewing on Monday the 16th.

2. Career day is on Tuesday May 17th! Thank you to all of our volunteers who have signed up to share their careers with our students this year. We are looking forward to hearing about your passion and successes!

3. Field day is on Friday May 20th from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. The forecast shows a nice hot sunny day therefore we'd like to suggest your child come prepared with the following:

- A hat
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen (preferably put on prior to arriving at school.)
- Either a sack lunch from home or ordered from school.
- A full change of clothes due to water activities.

We are looking forward to having a fun day to end our year! If you have any questions please contact your child's teacher.

Sincerely,
The Third Grade Team

Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Integrated Reading, Writing, and Social Studies:

We will explore the contributions of unsung heroes in our PBL so that we can communicate information about the contributions of lesser-known citizens who made a big impact. I'll know I have it when I can create a know/need to know chart about the person I am studying and research to learn more information about their life.

Math Workshop:

We will review pounds and ounces so that we can determine the appropriate unit of measurement. I will know I have it when I can determine how many ounces are equivalent to a pound.

Science:

We will recall what we have learned this year in science so that I can decide what I want to know more about. I will know I have it when I can create a project or presentation about something that I am passionate about.
