Destination Imagination
Is your child a creative problem solver? Does he/she like to think out of the box? If so, your child may love to be a part of Destination Imagination (DI)! Your child learned all about DI today at Celebrate Smith along with a fun demonstration by several of our teachers.
DI is a fun, hands-on international program that uses creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas and working together as a team to problem solve.
When you sign your child up for DI they will be placed on a team with other kids in their grade. Teams have a minimum of 2- maximum of 7 students on them. Every team needs a parent volunteer to coach/manage the team. Multiple parents can help co-lead or assist in managing a team. (Don't worry parents, we offer training and help every step of the way!) Teams meet for 1-1.5 hours every week.
If this sounds like something your child would like to do, please review the following and sign up your child to do DI!

To learn more about DI and their mission please watch this short video: https://youtu.be/bNEtYlx2LmA
Lastly, there will be 2 Info Meetings where you can get all of your DI questions answered. We will meet in the Smith Cafeteria on Tuesday, September 20th at 9:30 am OR Wednesday, September 21st at 7:00 PM.
Don't miss out on this outstanding opportunity for your kid! Sign up now! Deadline for sign up is Friday, September 23, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact Becca Davidson at beccaandreed@hotmail.com.
