Falcon Newsletter

October 2021

Fairview Elementary School

From the Principal

Happy Fall! As we begin October, hopefully the weather will begin to feel more fall like, too. Please read the entire newsletter for events that will be happening this fall, but at least one date is shared for an event happening in the spring. We hope you and your family will join us for both!

We have a few days off from school this month. We will use our professional development day on Monday of next week to work with staff from the Teton Science School in Wyoming to continue our Place Based learning and planning. We know it is difficult to have days off from school but it is important for teachers to have professional development time and opportunities to work together. We thank you!

One way parents can support children at home is to set aside time to read every day. Reading is the most important skill to practice at home and an easy way to spend time with your child.

Save the date! FAIRVIEW FEVER FESTIVAL- 4/29/22

The Fairview Fever Festival is a yearly event and is our PTA's largest fundraiser, but most importantly, it's lots of fun!! We typically have this event on the first Friday in October, but we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to prepare for all the outdoor fun, so this year, we're making it a spring event! Please set aside this evening for a fun time with Fairview friends! It's set for Friday, April 29 from 4-7pm. We'll need lots of volunteers to make this a fun night for all of our students!

Student Flu Clinic

Our student flu clinic will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 1-3 p.m. Students must be registered and have parental permission to receive a flu shot. This is free of charge. Many parents signed up for this during the online registration process over the summer. If you are unsure whether you signed up, or would like a consent form sent home with your child, please contact Nurse Rachel at rwilenberg@cpsk12.org

Morning Check List

Plan to complete the Morning Check List each day before school

If your child is sick, please have the child stay home. If your child or someone in your home currently has COVID-19, please stay home and call your child’s school (214-3590) for the next steps. More information on protocols, plans and safety information is included in the district’s reopening plans available. click here

Free COVID-19 Rapid testing

COVID-19 testing will be available to CPS students and staff who are exhibiting symptoms of the illness. The type of test that will be used is most accurate when administered in the first 7 days of symptom onset. Therefore, prior to testing, parents and/or guardians will call the CPS nurse triage phone line at 214-3975 to discuss the need for testing based on these guidelines. The phone line will be open from 9:00am-1:00 pm, Monday-Friday, school days only.

If your child will be absent for the day, please call and report their absence or email jhouston@cpsk12.org. If we do not hear from you, we will call to check on their well being.
