All Normandy Students to Attend Classes Online Beginning Dec. 7
Please see the important announcement below from Mr. Marcus C. Robinson, Normandy Superintendent of Schools.
Normandy Families,
Due to the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in the community, the Normandy Schools Collaborative will move to an all-virtual instructional platform beginning Monday, December 7. All Normandy students will attend classes online beginning Monday, December 7 through Friday, December 18. (Winter Break begins Monday, December 21.) There will be no in-person instruction in schools during this period.
This change to an all-virtual format will primarily affect students who have been attending school in-person this semester. This is a difficult decision for us as we wanted to have all students return in person this semester, but we need to respond to the crisis in the community in a way that helps mitigate the spread of the virus.
In-person students will return to the buildings beginning today and will bring home any equipment (such as their Chromebooks, tablets, etc.) or other classroom materials needed to attend classes from home (beginning Monday, Dec. 7).
Students currently going through evaluations with Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD) will continue the process as planned. A member of the SSD staff will follow-up with families with next steps.
Students who have attended classes virtually will continue to do so.
Classroom/Technology
Teachers and staff will continue to report to buildings for work. If you need to contact your child’s teacher or principal, please contact the school or reach out to your child’s teacher directly. A staff email directory is posted on the Normandy district website. For assistance with district-issued Chromebooks or internet hotspots, please contact the Normandy Information Technology department at helpdesk@normandysc.org.
Family Support & Resources
Just as we have throughout this time, Normandy will continue to offer resources for families as needed. Please take note of future communications with any updates to the Grab & Go meal program and Friday Food Box giveaways. If your family is in need of other assistance, please contact the social worker, counselor or nurse at your child’s school. They have access to needed resources and are available to assist.
To say this year has been challenging is an understatement, but Vikings are victorious. With the cooperation of our families, staff and community, we will provide the best education possible in an environment that helps maintain the safety and health of our students and staff. We thank you for your support as we maneuver through this uncertain time. Please stay safe.
Sincerely,
Marcus C. Robinson
Superintendent of Schools
