Kindergarten Pre-registration
Reserve your child’s place in Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year by completing a Pre-Registration form that was sent home with students. Please be certain this form is returned to Hilltop by December 19, 2019. To be eligible to enter Kindergarten next Fall, all incoming kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2020. Please make certain to set time aside to ensure a spot in our full day kindergarten program by completing the form. In addition, if you know of any potential kindergarten age students in your neighborhood, please pass on this information to those families! If you are also interested in a tour of Hilltop with your future kindergarten student, please reach out to Hilltop to schedule your tour!
Keep Saving Box Tops!
With the Holiday Season underway, it is important to keep in mind to be checking all cooking and baking items for Box Tops! Each Box Top is worth 10 cents and they certainly help our school! Also, please check out the Box Top Ap – it is an easy and simple way to earn money for Hilltop! Remember, our Winter Box Top Collection is February 6th, so keep collecting!
U-46 Principal for a Day Program
Hilltop was selected to participate in the U-46 Principal for a Day Program today. Our school’s Principal for a Day was Angi Cholewa from Alignment Collaborative for Education. Our Principal for a Day participated in several school related activities from visiting classrooms to getting a private school tour by our Student Ambassadors.

Our incentives for this month are; A Colorful ball, Basketball, Pen, Googly eye glasses, Fountain, Stuffed toy dog, Pokémon cards, Swerve Ball, Word search and Lava Lamp. Remember, we are always looking for Respectful behaviors that represent our Hawks Pledge and make sure you place your Purple Hawk Feathers in one of the prize bins by the library for a chance to win cool items!
PBIS Pajama Day Incentive
Since our Hawks have filled up the Hawk Feather Bin for being safe, respectful and responsible; we will be having our PBIS Pajama Day incentive on Dec 18th for 6th Grade and Dec 19th for Pre-K-5 Grades.
We Love a Challenge-December Growth Mindset Theme
Our December Growth Mindset theme is "We Love a Challenge!" This month we will focus on how accepting challenges and stepping outside of our comfort zones helps us grow! We invite you to check out the link below to find out more about how you can partner with us to help your child embrace challenges!
Classroom Winter Parties
Our Winter Classroom Parties will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 to celebrate this winter milestone during the school year. These gatherings will be taking place from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. If you are a scheduled room parent assisting with the Winter Party, please be sure that your vehicle is moved before 1:40 pm so our school buses can be stationed for our students to be dismissed at the end of the day.
PTO Secret Santa Holiday Workshop
Our Hilltop PTO is bringing back the famous “Secret Santa Holiday Workshop” on Friday, December 13, 2019 during the school day. During this event, students are able to shop and purchase gifts for family members for the holiday season. Please be sure to have your student bring money with them so they are able to participate in this shopping experience!
Santa's Attic
Don’t forget Santa’s Attic is coming on Tuesday, December 17th during our students’ lunchtime. Students can buy raffle tickets to win an item from Santa's Attic. It costs 25 cents per ticket or 5 tickets for $1.00. Please make sure you bring your money next Wednesday to win a prize and feed a needy family at the same time!
Colder Weather is Here!
Please remember with colder temperatures that it is important your child dresses for the weather. Please make sure your child brings a jacket, hat and gloves each day! If your child wants to play in the snow during recess, please make sure they bring snow pants and boots to school. Students are not allowed to play in the snow without their jackets, hats, gloves, boots and snow pants. Please also help us to reinforce that students are not allowed to throw snow! We want our Hawks to have fun and stay safe during the winter months! Your help and support is always appreciated!
5 Essentials Survey
5 Essentials Survey
We are currently at 27% parent participation and we needed to reach 20% for Hilltop to receive a report! We have exceeded our goal and thank you for all your support! The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of our school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey specifically designed for Hilltop. This information is very useful for our future planning and development!
The 5Essentials results are displayed on the Illinois Report Card. Please use the following link to participate in the 5Essential survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Thanks for your continued support!
