CGELC Newsletter
August / September 2017
Dear Parents & Guardians
Social Media Update
As we are continuously trying to improve and update our communication with families, and ensure the utmost safety and respect to all involved we were working around ways to overcome some privacy concerns which were raised with regards to the use of our public Facebook page. ( https://www.facebook.com/castlegroveelc/ )
After collaboration between staff and families we have come to a solution and have now set up a CLOSED Facebook group which can only be accessed by staff members, and parents of children currently attending the centre who need the link and then approval to access the posts on this page. As of July 2017 we have been using this forum to share posts, photos and events which are relevant to educators and to families attending the centre. This closed group is closely monitored by CGELC staff and all members will have to be 'approved' to join. This will ensure the privacy and safety of educators, staff and students of Castle Grove ELC.
This forum will now be used to share things including but not limited to the following:
- Photos and Updates from our routine / learning experiences. A weekly album will be uploaded as well as special occasions and celebrations.
- The CGELC bi-monthly newsletter
- Centre Events such as Mothers Day Tea , End of Year Concert and more.
If you aren't connected yet ... you can request to join this group by using the following link https://www.facebook.com/groups/202203463635826/ and press the JOIN button to send a request to be added to the group.

INCASE YOU MISSED IT : Highlights from June / July
World Environment Day
During our learning about World Environment Day, and learning that each of us is personally responsible to look after the earth we live in, we took some time for self reflection to answer the question. What can I Do to Protect The Earth?
Children showed amazing understanding and came up with fantastic ideas as to how they could contribute to looking after the earth. Here are some of their responses
'I can recycle bottles'
'I have to clean my garden'
'I must throw my rubbish in the bin, not in the water.'
'Don't waste food'
'I can wash my bottle and use it again'
'I can protect the earth by not wasting water.'
'I can give toys I don't want any more to some one else'
