Last week we shared with you our core beliefs that where part of our Framework 220 initiative. At this week's Board of Education meeting, the board approved the six strategic priorities that Framework 220 designated as essential for achieving academic excellence.

This fall the district will create design teams for each strategic priority. The teams will be tasked with developing measurable action steps and establishing goals for each strategic priority. Teams will seek community feedback in the spring and present to the Board of Education in June 2023.

The six priorities are listed below.

In closing, we would like to thank all the parents that participated in our Back to School night last night. We hope you gained insight into the your child’s school day and got to familiarize yourself with our wonderful staff. We understand that this was as opportunity to give a large number of parents a glimpse of what we do in our classes and is not conducive to private conversations. We do, however, offer the opportunity to speak one-on-one with a teacher at our Parent Teacher Conferences, which are scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022. More information on Parent Teacher Conferences will come in future communications.

Sincerely,

Steve McWilliams

Principal

SCHOOL PICTURES

Between 9/13-9/16 students will take their school portrait during their English class. Freshman students will take their photos on Tuesday 9/13, Sophomores on Wednesday 9/14, and Juniors Thursday 9/15. Teachers will set aside a small portion of class time to escort students to C271 to take their photo and then will proceed with instructional time. Any freshman-junior student absent during their English class’ designated day can take their photo on Friday 9/16 from 8am-3pm during any open period. Senior walk-in portraits will take place on 10/5 from 8am-3pm in C271.

LIVE VIRTUAL PAYING FOR A COLLEGE EDUCATION

College bound juniors and seniors and the parents/guardian are invited to the virtual event on Thursday, September 15th from 7:00PM to 8:00PM.

Link to this event will be emailed to junior and senior families before the event.

STUDENT ABSENCE REPORTING

BHS believes that attending class, completing assigned work and contributing to the class are indispensable to success in school. Only when a student is in the classroom can he/she take full advantage of fellow classmates’ ideas, the teacher’s knowledge, expertise and counseling, and presentations of materials that enrich the class.

However, we recognizes illness, death in the immediate family, family emergencies and situations beyond the control of the student to be valid causes for missing school. If your student is too ill to come to school, please keep them at home and report the absence via the parent portal of Infinite Campus. Please be aware that attendance calls go out at 11AM each school day for unexcused absences, so it is important to submit absences via Infinite Campus in a timely manner. Attached are directions on how to utilize the parent portal, via the app or website to submit absence requests.

Parents/guardians must seriously consider whether or not the reason for the student missing valuable instructional time is sufficient to warrant the absence.

This page serves as a place where individuals can report school threats, bullying and concerns about a person's well-being. It is always best to talk directly to an adult, however since students and parents are not always comfortable doing so, this is another tool that can be used to alert district administrators about an issue. In the case of an emergency, call 911.
