On the Side of Hope!

Against the Odds

Many of our Ponies live every day with the hope that tomorrow will be better. Shaquem Griffin's story inspired me because it reminded me of the many challenges that our students face every day and how besides those difficulties they come to school every day choosing to believe that we can make a difference for them. Thank you for giving them hope.

We can finish strong!

You may select an activity from any resources available to you. The Science closet or STEM closet can be used for materials.

You are welcome to have student ambassadors help facilitate your activities as well.

I will send out a Google Form for you to add your activity so no one steals your idea ...

Summer Learning

Dear Elementary Teaching Staff - We have a summer of incredible learning experiences planned! Attached you will find an overview of August Trade Opportunities to get you thinking about your professional learning goals. The information provided in this document will give you details regarding the Elementary Teacher August Trade Day courses available to you. LISD August Trade Credit is earned in order to gain professional learning related to content specific curriculum. Those who complete the August Trade Credit option during the summer may stay home on Monday, August 6, 2018. Included in these flyers are content specific options that meet the August Trade Criteria for PK – 5th grade teachers. If you teach in a specialized department or program, you may receive additional communication to assist you in other learning opportunities.

As you plan your summer learning, below are a couple of reminders that might be helpful:

  • All summer courses open in Eduphoria on Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00 AM.
  • Eduphoria is the best way to find and register for any course. For assistance, please view this video on how to find courses in Eduphoria.
  • Details about August trade credit can be found HERE.
  • Details about November trade credit can be found HERE.
  • To see who is eligible for August trade credit, please click HERE.
  • If you are not able to attend an August trade session during the summer, you are required to attend the official Elementary August teacher trade day on August 6th found here.
  • Any August Trade credit that exceeds 6 hours will automatically roll over to November trade credit by Professional Learning in October.
  • Summer Trade Courses are also available for November Trade Credit. These courses are designed to enhance professional learning beyond the content specific curriculum.
  • The titles in these flyers match the titles listed in Eduphoria.

Last day for staff

The district gives each school an opportunity to decide if they would like to work late on the last day of school or return the following day and work. We would like to give you all an opportunity to voice your opinions in regard to what we will do at LVES.

Please keep in mind, if we work late on June 7th, all classrooms must be packed and ready before individual staff members can be signed off to leave.

If the majority of the staff votes to stay late on June 7th, you will not be required to return on June 8th.

If the majority of the staff votes to work on June 8th, we will leave at our normal time on June 7th and return the following day.

Click here to access the survey for staff . please complete by May 4th.
