PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora

Well, the autumn weather is certainly giving us a range, isn't it!

Last night our Board of Trustees met and covered a range of topics. One key area is the next Board election - September this year. If you are interested in what the Board does and think this is an area you would like to be involved in, please contact any of our Board members. Zoe Clement is one of our two co-chairs. Her email is zoe.clementbot@levineast.school.nz

Over the last couple of days, I have been on road patrol and I am concerned for our tamariki. I appreciate that parking is a challenge, especially in the wet, but PLEASE do not double park or park across driveways. It is dangerous and puts tamariki at risk.

This week is National Bullyfree week. We are taking the opportunity to acknowledge the positive aspects of our school that we see each and every day from our tamariki. Friday we will have our Pink Shirt Day - we look forward t seeing our tamariki and staff in their pink clothes.\. Photos to come next week.

We have two other massive events coming up over the next couple of weeks too. Our Whānau House Leaders are off to the annual National Young Leaders' Day in Papaioea on 25th May and our Showquest and Toi casts are heading up to the Regent to have their production filmed (sadly there is no live performance this year). We know they will give their absolute best and represent us well. Photos will follow.

Have a great week, and stay safe.

Lunch Orders

If a parent/caregiver wishes their student to have a lunch order they must order and deliver it to the office themselves.

The shop no longer delivers orders to school nor are students allowed to collect from the shop at lunchtime.

Please drop in any orders to the office before 12.10pm and we will call the student over to collect it.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

At Levin East School one of our main goals has been to continually improve student engagement in learning.

While we believe we have made some great progress over the last few years in this area, we are now working on a way to measure this.

A key part of this is to have a shared understanding of what we believe student engagement is or looks like at Levin East School.

We are keen to hear whānau perspectives of engagement. Teachers will be contacting a small group of families each to have a conversation around this. If you are interested in sharing your ideas please contact the school office and someone will be in touch.

Below will be some of the typical questions you could expect;

How will you know when/ if your child is engaged in learning?

What type of things would you see and hear if they are truly/ fully engaged?
